Marcin is to Mercedes what guys like Clapton and Hendricks were to Rock n Roll!!!
maybe he'll chyme in and tell us what he will do for us SL55 guys...I've spoken with him before and he really likes the supercharged V8 platform

Re-read my OP slowly, the 1st 800 rpm's in ANY gear are totally neutered in STOCK form IE the TCU/ESP nanny's pull the plug on the TQ output until AFTER those initial 800 rpm's in power band of ALL gears, so after TCU has ALL TQ limiters lifted every gear has found NEW untapped HP/TQ from 0-800 RPM's. Beyond that everything is improved vs stock...
That's my understanding of it anyway, Marcin will have to chime in as he his far better versed than I.
PS..No lie it actually feels like I gained more than the ECU tune, because these power gains are not just @ peak levels in RPM band but thru-out ANY/EVERY gear from 0-800 rpm's. It gives the car an entire new balance/aggressive nature like it lost 100's of lbs not kidding... @ 1st I asked Marcin if I was just imagining it, the gains are so impressive it's a shockingly different vehicle POST TCU mod...

- Based on what you described, seems like the benefit of removing the torque limiters would only be beneficial in 1st gear since every other gear change after 1st will likely stay above the 800 rpm range
- Is there anyway to firm-up and/or speed the shifts through a TCU tune or would it have to be done in hardware?

A couple of questions regarding this:

- Is there anyway to firm-up and/or speed the shifts through a TCU tune or would it have to be done in hardware?

I understand it as the FIRST 800 RPM of any gear, after gear change.

I talked to Marcin today for a while ...he clarified this for me...
1) shifts are not harder but rather more efficient, using power in the band on each gear change
2) there is no increase in power or torque however since each change is missing the factory "hesitation" it feels crisper and better and ultimately will increase powertrain utilization efficiency through the gear range/powerband...but you still make the same power and torque
3) v12TT benefit most because they rev to 5700 vs close to 6500 for the 55k, the drop in RPM is greater on the v12TT as well
4) A TCU upgrade for the 55K will eventually be made available. The ECU and TCU for the V12TT and 55K are remarkably similar; so the TCU upgrade for the 55K will not be very difficult to sort out - and will have the same advantages as the v12TT TCU upgrade. This TCU upgrade does not have any relationship with ECU tuning with the exception of IF THE TUNING TELLS THE ECU TO CHANGE THE FACTORY SHIFT POINTS...if such is the case then that information is needed for the TCU tune.
Hope the above helps

Yes, it's power the car always had just never unlocked before in those RPM's.

Gonna have to dig into that a bit. If enough interest is expressed we might try see if its possible. FYI, if a car has throttle blipping its there all the time, might get annoying on a car that a daily driver. Might be cool for a week or two but think about it long term.

But wouldn't the intensity of it be dependent on the downshift rpm's... what i mean is, if you coming off a fwy and not downshifting at all (coasting), you don't really feel the trans downshifting... would you still feel it blipping? as opposed to coming of the fwy in a high rpm state and grabbing lower gears... then i can see it blipping aggressively?..

The few cars that I've driven with this featue only did it when the car was in it's version of manual/manumatic mode. When left in "D", either it didn't happen, or I just didn't notice it. It was only when the car was shifted manually.
Hope this helps.

Sean, congrats on the new mod.
Hopefully the TCU comes out soon for the 55's and the throttle blipping will be frigin bad ***. I will sign up just to get throttle blipping.

Sunir and Sean...maybe you can shed some light on this...I have the Kleeman TCU and per their admission this mod is really for the non-AMG V12's and that I would not really feel much of a difference as opposed to the TCU in the SL600.
Does this hold true for this TCU upgrade also, since the AMG TCU is already pretty aggressive?

I just got mine installed yesterday. Holy wow!! I'll give a full write up when I have a little more time. Here's the sequence of events:
5:04 pm Marcin Installs SpeeDriven TCU
5:06 pm I'm driving in traffic and finally get onto the highway
5:07 pm I'm on the phone with the local drag strip inquiring about their schedule
5:18 pm I've burned a quarter tank of gas
This is the fastest my car has ever been. I now have both the SpeeDriven ECU and TCU mod. I'm going to the drag strip Thursday. I expect to easily better my 10.72

Well we made it out to the dragstrip with Marko's CL tonight.
Track prep surprisingly sucked, usually GLD has good prep. He got one clean pass without tire spin where he left the line of idle. With a 1.7 60foot the CL went 10.70@134.3mph.
I'll upload a vid to youtube tomorrow and you'll see what I mean by not hooking. Car would rip loose 70-80 feet out and being that the car is without a cage, we got to make passes count. So out of 5 passes one fairly clean one before we got the boot.
Might hit another track this Sunday in hopes of better prep.

Well I guess my problem is that the very first thing I do when I get in any car after turning the key on is, set trans to M (if it has it) and disable traction. Force of habit I guess.
No promises about the throttle blipping, but we'll deffinetly look into it.

What was this car's previous highest trap? I know that the 10.73 run had a trap of 130, but was that the previous highest trap, regardless of E.T.? I know that was the previous lowest ET, but I'm really only interested in the car's highest trap, prior to the TCU. Also, what were the track conditions (DA)for both? Was the air much better last night?
If you gained 3.x MPH over the previous highest trap speed, in similar DA, I'd have to say that the TCU upgrade was a success!
Seriously considering this......

Honestly don't know what the DA was last night. Passes were done at around 8:45-9pm @ greatlakesdragaway. Prior to this his fatest pass both in ET and MPH was at MIR 130mph. We did not add ice to tank last night. At MIR ice was used. Ecu and TCU have been flashed since than.
