So as some of you know.. I bought an SL600.. here she is, got her home tonight
Hey guys, so about a week ago give or take a couple days, I was approached by someone selling a modified SL600 because of my WTB thread.. well I loved everything about it and worked out a great deal. Car also has a 5 yr/70k Chrysler Warranty on it! So I am good till 4/21/2015 or 100k (got it from Michael today - I was his contact on this forum back last year in mid 09) -- The car is an 04, and just hit 30k miles on my way home tonight (but doesn't look like an 04 )
As far as mods go:
MODS:
20x9 Maya MRS Powder Coated Matte Black Centers/Gloss Black Lips
20x11 Maya MRS Powder Coated Matte Black Centers/Gloss Black Lips
Vredestein 255/30/20 (front) 295/25/20(rear) but these are like 305s on other brand tires
Renntech ELM
Floored Fab Custom exhaust (Jet Hot coated black)
BMC Air Filters
All the fins and door handle pieces paint matched to the car
07 SL65 Bumpers
07 SL65 3 fin grill
07 SL65 LED Tails
07 SL65 Front
07 SL65 3rd break light
Painted headlights similar to how it is on an SLR
Matte black custom paint scheme
1 thing to note ***The exhaust on the car sounds insane!!! Chris did an amazing job***
Up next is an ECU / TCU tune :-) Marcin is running a special if you get both through him.
Also adding an SL63 rear lip spoiler (glossy black)
And replacing all lighting to match 6000K hid quality.
Also, going to copy the same scheme as the current grill, but I think I am throwing the 09+ style on)
Here are some pics. I was down in Maryland getting the car today, too bad it rained car was just freshly detailed prior to pickup!
Enjoy, and can't wait to get her to the track in a month or 2 after my tweaks!

He sold this to me, and bought an 05 silver SLR w/ 9k miles with a renntech 720 hp package a couple days before I picked this up
oh and Clayton.. is it normal for the SL600 with damp roads to want to get away from you at 80?
The exhaust is a full 3 inches, and he said after it was installed he felt a power increase from stock.
and kustom2k1 Thank you

haha I figured when you saw I got it in Maryland you'd be like how did I not see this car! He lives around Towson MD. The car was Rbtronnie's car on the forum.. he has quite the collection. CLS55, 2 lambos, and a few other things.

I don't even take it out in the rain anymore. It's just too damn powerful after the Eurocharged tune. I can quite literally, break the tires loose at anything under 60mph on dry pavement.
So how do you like it compared to your SL55? Quite a bit different in power delivery, huh? Once you get the ECU/TCU tune, I'm gonna have to update my sig to #3 quickest on record.
So glad that there's a local(ish) SL600 to use as a measuring stick. I'm sure you'll bring it down to MIR and I'll probably make an ATCO trip and meet you up there.
Enjoy in good health, and for the love of GOD, don't disengage traction control. Seriously......don't do it.

I can't imagine turning traction off haha. This car is almost as bad as my 580rwhp z06 - but traction control in the benz is much nicer than on the vette. and #3 huh? I'm going to need practice on these 20s!!! haha. When you are at the track what modes are you in? Right now around town, I am driving it in S and abc sport off. And 0 lights on the airmatic suspension.
If you put 18s on your car, and ran it, would it vastly improve your times? Say .2 tenths off from where you're at now?

I like the car. I haven't even really been able to punch it yet cause it was wet on my way home. A couple things I did notice is the little bit softer road feel which isn't a bad thing as I plan to put about 10k miles a year on the car - much more DD savy. I also noticed the power comes on quicker in the v12 tt then the 55k; and obviously the torque is greater.

My best time with the 18's was 11.55 , but I had a bit better air last weekend when I ran 11.40 on those 20s
At the track, I always run sport transmission, and comfort suspension. Normally, you'd raise the ABC up to it's highest point so you get better weight transfer to the rear wheels when you launch. However, I've had success with the ABC at it's lowest setting too. All depends on the track condition.
My first pass of the day will always be just how I drove it to the track. I won't tinker with suspension ride height or tire pressure and I'll launch off idle. If I spin, I can adjust tire pressure. If I don't, I can launch at a higher RPM. If the car doesn't squat enough on launch, I'll raise the ABC. Using my method, I only change one parameter at a time, and usually get it dialed in by the 3rd or 4th run. See where I'm going with this? If you change too much, without having the needed data to do so, it just complicates things in my opinion. Just my style, but some people may not agree with it.

Nice ride! looks quite aggresively styled indeed, especiall withe the matte black accents and amg 65 front valence. I think I know the owner, met him at the track before if ti's the same guy I'm thinkin' it is...

I think you will be happy with them in the dry. That said, not many 295's are gonna do well with all that torque your pushing. I had to go from PS2's to Khumo's on my Viper because the torque was just too much for them.. and my Viper has much less torque than your car and I was running 345's in the back. Now with the Khumo's (they come heat cycled and with like 3/32's" tread from tire rack), traction is 100% better.. I think i only get about 3-4k miles a set but they are about 1/2 or less the cost anyway.. they sure are sticky though.. just something to think about if you find yourself sideways all the time.. maybe traction control takes care of that..not sure.. traction control on a Viper is only sphincter controlled!
