SLR wheels do not fit the SL55...
It has been tried on SL55s and without major mods to the suspension the wheels hit on the body/suspension... Has to do with the huge offset differences..
There are repros that will fit with no problems...

2007 Väth SL65 AMG. 2007 BMW Alpina B5s. 2007 BMW M6.
Just note that the originals are made in left & right!
That means that the spokes lean towards the same direction, on both sides of the car!
And the right way to mount them, is to have the upper-half-spokes leaning backwards.
On the fakes are all 4 rims identical.
Probably a cost issue.
That way, it's REALLY EASY to sort them out..!

Thanks EXECMALIBU and maxabo.
I'll keep snooping around as I'm looking for something that's a little more durable than the Mandrus wheels I'm currently running. I'm sure there is a manufacturer that produces a good product - apart from MB of course.

I have an extra set of Factory OEM AMG 19 inch 2 piece wheels with the ultra rare 10 inch wide rear wheels!
If you are interested I might sell them... They are a direct bolt on for your SL55

Thanks. If anything I'll probably go back with the original 18" "turbine" style offered on the SL55. The Mandrus wheels I have now are attractive enough though they haven't proven to be as durable.
There are a few original SLR wheelsets on ebay for $4-6K but if they have fitment problems then there's no point.
Thanks again all.

Lorinser
Lorinser makes a "turbine" wheel for most cars including the SL. As mentioned all 4 are the same but you can order them in the finish of your choice. I believe they are the LM6 or something like that. These are 19". This page shows some finishes etc. http://wheelsperformancecom.stores.yahoo.net/loga.html

SUNIR...DO YOUR HOMEWORK! AMG 10X19 ... MERCEDES PART NUMBER A230 400 0202
Sunir,
You are wrong!
There is a special order/optional 10 X 19 inch (2) piece wheel for the R230... They are rare and VERY hard to find...
Call your local dealer and tell part number A 230 (230 chassis) 400 0202... You will be told that it is exactly as I descibed and that they are around $2,500 per wheel!
PS,
The STOCK rear tires on ALL of the SL65s I have seen were 285 (not 295) X 30 X 19 and they were always Bridgestones RE050A

At least they were this price about 2 years ago... The price on parts sometimes varies at MBUSA if they want to clear out their inventory..

FTW, I used SLR wheels on my SL for a while with no problems.
All you need is some spacers to bring the offset down to SL levels and they fit just fine (I still have the rear spacers with bolts even). My set is for sale now anyways as I switched to OZ wheels for something different.
