Lightbulb Upgrading 2005 SL55 to 030 PP

Hi All,
I am looking for a path to getting my new SL55 upgraded to the 030PP.

Where can I get a list of parts needed to make the change...

I am thinking:
Brakes: I drive hard....
Spoiler: It looks cool

ECU: Cause, I want to go faster than my old F355 (160MPH). On legal race courses... Of course... Would I need to change the computer, or could it be flashed... (I am an EE... I get it.).

Suspension: Stiffer Modes?

SpeedShift Enhancement:??? I have seen the funky switch... Not sure about that one.
What else is there?

DG

Part No's

How do I find Part No's for:

* AMG Safety Car front bumper with side air extractors
* Alcantara AMG sport steering wheel
* 186 mph (300 km/h) top speed (electronically limited)
* AMG ABC Active Suspension with "Nurburgring" calibration
* AMG "Compound" braking system
- AMG Compound front brakes: cross-drilled, internally-ventilated 15.4" two-piece discs with AMG 8-piston calipers
- AMG rear brakes: cross-drilled, internally-ventilated 13.7" two-piece discs with AMG 4-piston calipers
* AMG Locking rear differential

I have noticed that AMG does the upgrades in Europe. Do they also do same in US?

don't really need the 030...if you wanted two piece rotors you could buy those aftermarket...if you wanted upgraded wheels you could get much lighter 19" forged wheels in the aftermarket...if you wanted LSD quaiffe has you covered...each of these are less costly and lead to perfromance gains. The 030 was not available of early model years SL55...

you can get Wave Trac or Quaiffe for less than the factory optioned clutch pack diff in the 030 which is not as aggressive as either in terms of lock up and ramp angles (which I think are not modified at all)

Looked into the Quaiffe, only saw an application for a 500SLC. Not SL55.... Is that the right part?

I have a brand new Quaife for sale at $1250 for 55 series cars. QDF9V is the one for SL55's. (other than some very early 03's)

PM if you are interested.

why are you selling it auraraptor? do you have an SL600? The quiffe for SL55 is seperated into pre Sept 2003 and post Sept 2003...there are two versions based on mfg dates for a given car.

Yes, I have an SL600. I am selling it because I am selling my car (I have had it 5 years now), so I pretty much lost the main reason to install it.

This would be for the later cars (12 bolt pattern).

600's a nice ride man...sorry to see it go. what are you getting into next? For those of you interested, auraraptors price is very competative on the quaiffe and it will certainly help your car!

The Wavetrac LS for the SL55 also fits a number of Chrysler/Dodge SRT-8 models. Does anyone know if other companies LS for SRT-8 models will also fit the SL55? The reason I ask is that there are complete differential assemblies for the SRT-8 models for about $1K.

What are SL55 owners' opinions on which is best differential to buy (OEM, Quaife or WaveTrac)?

IIRC, the cases are different, though the R&P are of the same SPEC, but different size as well. (ie you can't use their R&P without completely custom 1 off software.)

Quaife's are better engineered, and can tolerate higher torque without as much as a second thought.

The OEM only can shunt a limited amount of power to the other wheel. I think it was up to 30%. Also the power transition is not progressive, its stepwise. Also the clutches wear out over time, and quicker with more power.

Quaife transitions all the power to the wheel with greater grip (up to 99.999%). Also it has no clutches to wear out and is progressive in power transfer (no abrupt transitions like OEM). The major con is it is expensive.

Wavetrac is the same basic design as a quaife, but cheaper and not as durable (debated)

Many thanks, Auraraptor, for that very informative answer. Looks like I'll have a closer look at the Quaife differential.....Geo.
