No more MB/SL coverage for Chrystler/Starmark Warranty - Next best option?

Well, I'm sure many have heard the bad news that Chrystler easy care will not be offering coverage on MB cars (including the used SL55 AMG, SL600, or SL65 AMG I am now in the market for)

Does anyone have any "next best" suggestions as an alternative? Any major companies to avoid?

About what is the expected cost/terms to expect for a 2005-2006 year SL with mid 30-50k ranges for mileage?

Thank you all in advance for your help!

Supra
Welcome

I have these guys: http://www.fidelitywarrantyservices.com/

There's alot of mixed reviews & feelings about them. However, I used them for the first time a few weeks ago to replace my IC pump. The inspector came to the shop and signed off on it with out even flinching.

It was on the car when I bought it, might be worth a shot.

Jesus, what is this supraforums or something?

Fidelity and Easycare seem to be popular. I have MB Extended care on my 65... which might be for sale

Seriously though Adam, hit me up on AIM. I will help you out. I've been around these cars for a while.

Thank god I have a Chrysler warranty! Its the best HANDS down. It's just like the original bumper to bumper warranty. They cover everything with no questions.

I would look for a used SL WITH a Chrysler warranty and hope they start to re-write policy's before it's up.

I called Fidelity last night and they would not write an SL55, its an 07 still under fact warranty and only 8000 miles, I guess the next step is a Mercedes ext warranty, that is going to cost.

Could someone on the forum make up a poll (I don't have the computer ability to do it) that asks
Model/year of car
Do you have a warranty? YES - NO
If yes, number and cost of claims
If no, number of problems and cost of repairs
add any other info you deem important.

I have Fidelity on my 2005 SL600. I've made a couple of claims and have never been denied or gotten any hassle from them.

Chrysler will write the contract still, just not Michael Case's group, the Chrysler Service contract is not nearly as good a price and 5 years at max past factory. I'm still looking for the right plan.

That is weird....I heard Chrysler wasn't covering MB's at all.

Make 100% sure they are quoting you a CHRYSLER warranty. They love the bait and switch.

Here is an email from Michael.

"Hi,

I'm sorry but that is not an option - we can no longer sell Chrysler contracts to Florida residents (Florida State Laws).

Regards,

Michael Case
Harold Zeigler Automotive Group"

Funny, Im in Florida and the dealer I called is in Florida. I asked him SEVERAL times if hes absolutely SURE that his quote was valid and he said yes. I'll call again tomorrow to make sure that this is indeed a Chrysler warranty.

When I called phone numbers given, I get the message "Thank you for calling GM factory warranty....". Looks like it's GM not Chrysler.

I purchased a Chrysler Service Contract with Maximum Care 7yr/100K mile coverage for $3,200 for my 2006 SLK 55 AMG from Michael Case with the Harold Zeigler Automotive Group in February 2010. The valve body on my transmission failed a month ago and Flecher Jones Mercedes replaced my transmission within 3 days no questions asked. Now that's awesome service with an outstanding warranty!

I contacted Chrysler and he said no more contract for MB's for 60 days. I guess it'll be a temporary thing. They'll probably adjust their premiums.

Because I'm buying a Chrysler warranty for my wife's BMW I've been talking at length with Michael Case. According to Michael, Chrysler temporarily suspended their MB coverage after a large surge of claims were filed very soon after the warranty was purchased. It seems these claims came from owners who had their cars inspected and approved by MB, purchased the warranty, and then immediately filed expensive claims. Chrysler is reviewing the data to see if this was an anomaly or an emerging pattern of abuse. Anyway, he expects a decision within a few weeks.
