Out of interest how do you go about 'selecting' a characteristcs of the sound a muffler would make, whats involved?

Would dearly love some technical input on this mysterious topic

I personally am no muffler pro. However guys involved in this project are. They got lots of experience hand building mufflers. I plan on picking their brain tonight or tomorrow. On how we are going to get the sound I'm after. When I get something back I will for sure pass it on.

What I do know is.. playing with the over all size, length and chambers, has a large effect on the sound. Any more than that...

Are you looking to develop something like this with the titanium 4 muffler setup? But hopefully with more tasteful tips so it doesn't look like a ricer?

I personally like the 4 muffler idea. presented that idea to the guys. So its an option Im considering. As for the tips. They do look a bit too tuner'ish, but I'm not against having some accents of blue in the tips.

Guys, where can I get a diagram of my '07 CLS550 exhaust system so I know what is what - I've never seen a set-up like the one I have..... so many things under there with the "X" etc.
Also interested in "more" sound!!!! without breaking the bank or getting Benz on my case for screwing with the warranty?

Is this project still going on? I like the titanium look but with rounded tips instead of normal laser cut titanium tips. I had one on my 350z and loved the look.

the project is on my list of "things to do's" In all honesty I need to stop building headers for new cars. Like the SLK55, SLK320, and so on. i never get a moment anymore to do things I need to do. After the SLK projects, I'm don't building long tube headers for a while. Its not that they take long to build its just they tie up a lift and it never works into my schedule when the lifts are open.

Anyone ever seen these stainless steel mufflers with programable valve control and remotable flaps for all Mercedes SL from wheelsandmore.de?

I would love to hear how they sound. They look professional and are show quality, but at $6,500, come on??

Yeah that definitely looks like an SL63... rear bumper and all too. So this is definitely an SL55?

Did this guy do a purely aesthetic conversion?
