I found 03 SL55 with 35,000 mile with $5000 cheaper than 05 Sl55 at 57000 miles.

Either '03 or '05 could be fine and the lower mileage the better but the service history matters most of all. If the car has already been unreliable in the past it's likely to just get worse in the future.

Good luck with your search!

the 03 nav is awful, but I guess the 05 is too, it just looks nicer. If you are planning to gut the stereo, I'd say go with the lower mile option.

black is the only color for an SL, but that is an extremely biased opinion.

03 with 35k means the car might have been stored in the winter... If it is a private sale make sure you ask the owner about his Winter storage procedure.

SL65
Get an SL55 with warranty. If it doesn't have one GET ONE ASAP. One trip to the dealer will cost you a min of $600 for something small and $2,000 for something normal.

Warranty is a must.

Buying one of these based on price can be false economy. Many of these cars have been trouble since day one. Others (like mine), have been brilliant. It is far more important to find a well cared for car, with a great service history, than save a few thousand up front.
