Hello, Karl. On SL500 tubular strut, how do you proceed after strut replaced to close the top back down.

I just bought these Stabilus units and am super happy. Don't be afraid to do this it is SUPER easy. Small flat screwdriver. Fixed a daily annoyance with the car for about $80 shipped

HELP!! I'm Stuck - solution found

When using the actual key inserted into the trunk lid to disconnect from the main supports, I had forgotten to remove the metal key from the trunk. If you do so, the entire roof system is frozen!

Hi
I did this a year ago, but it was pretty simple. The biggest trick was to decide just when in the 'convertible top opening process' to turn the key OFF to 'freeze' the various moving parts so that you could access the smallest strut. The other three were pretty easy, it was just the small one that took some good timing. Don't forget that the system will time you out after a certain period of time if you stop the process by turning off the key - if you are delayed, just tap the key on and off so that the timer resets and gives you another period of time to finish the install.
