2007 SL55 AMG (030)
First post...
Hi folks. My first post.
I'm looking at the VRP "VR550" Pulley/ECU Kit + their shorty headers.
Any comments on this kit? I have an "030" SL55 2007
Price vs. performance compared to others?
Guesstimate of HP/TQ gains (if you assume or have seen different than their claims?)
Any side-effects I should expect (except a large charge on my credit card?)
Thanks

VRP does some good work.
The 55K engine is very tunable, and there is allot left on the table (Thanks AMG). What it comes down to is how much power you want or need, what you are going to use the car for..... and how much you want to spend.
As with many mods, there is a law of diminishing returns. You can get decent gains with modest expenditure, and the higher you go up the ladder the gains become incrementally smaller.

Good, sensible info - thanks.
I'm looking to match an SL63 (which I think is about 100HP higher rated?)
What approach would you take for another 100 HP (flywheel) or 80 RWHP (if that's a good computational comparison.)

I think you meant an SL65 which is about 612hp. The SL63 is pretty close in hp to the SL55 -- although the torque figures are another matter entirely!
I would think that a pully replacement with CAI + mufflers along with a custom ECU tune would get you most of the way there for not much scratch.

Welcome to the forum!
I've had good luck with VRP parts and good interactions with the people who used to run company, Victor and Vadim, but they parted ways a while ago. I see that the VRP Tuning website is still up but I would encourage you to contact Victor to make certain the company is still in operation.
Other tuning companies worth taking a look at include Veloce (Dino's company), Evosport, MBH, Kleemann, and Renntech. I'm sure there are a few others that I'm forgetting.
Based on the track times it runs, my car probably makes around 650 crank HP. It pretty much takes the mods in my signature block to get that much power out of the engine. I've had no issues with the car. It's my daily driver and it fires up every morning without fail.
Good luck with your modding!

Thanks for the further info guys. I'll call between the company's and most likely get the pulley/ecu/headers in motion to start with.
Those 11.4's are impressive JMF!
