Does anyone have the front engine cover for an SL55 for sale? The chrome on the star peeled off on mine and I really don' t want to buy the entire cover.

I think you can buy the chrome star peice seperate from the front engine cover...it pops off right?

 

Just paint the star black, then it will be custom .

 

No you must buy the entire cover. The star is heat fused on the cover.

 

Once the plastic chrome peels off it is black. Maybe I'll paint it Shocking Pink or Electric Blue .

 

cant you just pop that star out and put it onto another cover...isn't that what everyone did when they got the carbon fiber from engine covers..use the emblem from the orignal engine cover...from the CF cover I had (carbonio/VRP) there was just a hole there for what I presume you had to re-use your existing factory star there?? am I missing something?

 

No you are not missing anything but you are a little off base. 1. It doesn't pop off you have to grind the plastic off of the tabs that hold the star on and hopefully be able to glue it on another cover 2. The star is not avaiable by itself, you have to buy the entire cover 3. My problem is that the existing star looks like hell, needs to be replaced and I don't want to buy the entire cover. I will take the previous posters advice and paint it. I'm leaning toward the shocking pink!!
