Best Front Brake Pads

So time as come to change my pads on MY SL55 and I was wondering what pads were the best. Does material of the pad make a huge difference? Ceramic vs. EBC Yellow vs EBC Red? How do dustless pads match up? Ive always wondered how different braking performance would be from the $50 pads to lets say $200 pads.

Thanks guys...

I recently replaced the pads on my 07 E550 4Matic Sport with Akebono and couldn't be happier. No brake dust, great stopping power and no noise. Search the web, parts.com etc. and you'll find there is a wide price variance for the same pads.

Last time I checked, Akebono doesn't make them for SL55s.

Be careful

Right after I bought my SL55, I bought Porterfield R4S pads after having great luck with them on my SLK and a BMW. I had the dealer install them, and the rears didn't work because there was no place to plug in the wear sensor. I told the dealer to install just the fronts..... well after driving around for a week and listening to them rattle and clink (apparently they didn't come with the proper shims?) I had them removed and haven't strayed from the stock pads again. I hate the dust but I can't afford to make a similar mistake again. I have always had the dealer install them on my other cars without a problem. Maybe the Porterfields just weren't ready for the SL55 but the manufacture told me it was my problem.

I just installed Akebono pads on all four corners... Yes they still make them... And Yes they are the absolute best... No dust, and great braking..
