what do you think of the stock rims?

just wondering what people think...

reasons i like:
1. only mercedes with these rims, thus ppl know it's SL55
2. other types of AMG rims are played out, like the five spokes offered by the dealer making it harder to distinguish SL55...
3. don't have to spend another 4k+ on a decent set of 19s or 20s

reasons don't:
1. impossible to clean
2. don't do the brakes justice
3. rims look small

Agreed on most counts. I prefer the newer AMG rims that look like the Brabus rims. They are double spoked. Only downside is that they are slightly harder to clean than the usual AMG rims, but still much easier than the stock turbine rims. Another small downside is that tires are a bit more expensive if they are bigger. Last downside i can think of is that bigger rims arent as fast in a straight line, but to counter that is that larger usually means better handling on the twisties.

The best looking rims are the dual spoke AMGs but they come in 19 inch only and are about 5-7000K depending on where you get them. If you have pressure sensors these have to be installed properly. The turbines are a compulsive carnut's nightmare. So, I settled for the mundane 5 spokers which are always clean with a simple wipe taking less than 5 minutes. The car's guts are what turns me on more than incrimental difference the wheels make.
