SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: My New Car.....Finally

soon as i get the car i shall posy some fresh piks
OP : Congrats !! You must live in Europe since you wheels are not the 19's that come stock on the SL55 AMG R230 1.2.
By 1.2 I mean First generation, after the minor facelift of 2006, when 55 and the 600 went from 500 to 517 Hp's.
That is my favorite generation.
Enjoy : Any mods planned ?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I collected the car from the dealership today i was well happy that i was finally taking it home.
however my problems had already begun withing 5 minutes of driveing away from the dealership, when i found a bit of open road i put my foot down and the car was performing as it should, after few seconds the car held back when i put my foot down again i noticed the car was under powering by a high amount. My instant thoughts was the superchargers pump has failed as they commonly do but after a few seconds the power was kicking in, i rang the dealer up and told him instantly and he said it could be the battery in the boot maybe the cause as it was not charged i checked the memory and it was coming up with the battery symbol in red, i had a go at him saying why did you release the car with 1 battery being flat he said the technicians believed it would charge up i said ill call tomorrow but im going to get it checked it out by an amg specialist local to me.
i took the car straight there and it seemed the charger was kicking and cutting of at random moments, he believed its the pump but its worth getting the battery changed which the dealer confirmed they will do as they were aware of it and the fact i have warranty. another key worry i was having was the whining noise was rather loud than expected the salesman said its the kompressor.
what i want to know is would the pump make the engine management light go of and what should i do because Ive basically got a amg vehicle which chooses to drive with full 517 bhp when it wants to and goes into safe mode when it wishes to, and is the whining noise suppose to be loud it sounds like power steering pump is failing.

Easy fix then enjoy bro!

Easy fix then enjoy bro!

Just think of it as the Beast within asking to be let out!
i took the car to a local dealership which re really good and i have good relationship with, straight away they said that the car should not have been sold to me in the way it is and my treatment is unacceptable they contacted the dealer and are helping me fight my case.
they have booked the car in for tomorrow for a check up as they also believe the multi-point check that was done was not done right or to standards.I gave up calling the dealership and went straight to my lawyer who is taking his steps i will want a refund and to be compensated for all the aggro.
my specialist also believes that the whining sound is loud than usual i sat in his e55 and its not as loud as i have it sounds like the power steering pump failing but its not as the steering is perfect
he said its not there fault a problem can occur a any point i argued saying your technicians are useless the multi point check confirms the brake pads were fine but only to be spotted by an outside MOT to find the pads were not fine
he said if there is a problem we will repair but no refund, i said no i just brought the car and im already having problems, we argued for a while and all i was getting was him laughing on the phone saying that my research into the trading standards are wrong and his exact words were "tough deal with what we give you"
i'm sending an email of complaints to head office and im dropping te car of to my local dealership who were shock to after i told them and they are on my side saying its not on the car is getting checked tomorrow and we shall see from there
I'm put of the car i even discovered today that SBC brake is not working
my advice to anyone avoid Mercedes Benz Bromley!!!
These cars are really great when they are well cared for. Mine is an '03 that I bought new and it has been great.
Good luck.
i took the car today to my local dealership i requested to take 1 of there AMG engineers out with me so i can show him personally they were ok with this happening. on the drive the supercharger was cutting out and even he agreed that there is a secondary whine as well as the supercharger and there is a chirp.
i was writing a letter of complaint to MBUK and whilst i was in the middle writing up my complain the general manager phoned me.
he was being reasonable and apologetic and was laying out options for me so we i wouldn't complain 2 MBUK and resolve the matter within ourselves the options i have been given are
*Repair the car and gime a small compensation
*Do a like to like exchange
*Give me a full refund*
I said repairing isn't an option im not happy what so ever and i have ni love for the car. you cant do a like to like because you do not have any other SL55'S and personally i dont want 1 after my experience
he said maybe another car, my reply was you haven't got anything in that price budget i do not want a C63 because the new model is due to be released end of this year and the only other car i can think of is a E63 AMG but i'm not looking pay money on top as i'm in the process of buying my dad a new car from my local merc dealership.
And if i do want a refund i will want a compensation for all my troubles time of work and petrol money up and down from dealership to my hose as well as going to my local (diesel is not cheap)
now i really need advice from you guys iv been offered a e63 59 plate with 8000 miles for 55k possibly 52k options include:
Reversing camera
AMG drivers package EASY-PACK through-loading facility
Telephone pre-wiring with hands-free facility
Front seats - comfort ventilated
Full glass roof with sunroof
Dynamic multi-contour front seats
Digital radio
Fire extinguisher
Harman Kardon® Logic 7® Surround-sound system
Remote boot closing
EASY-PACK boot convenience box
AMG Performance Package
Obsidian black metallic
even though i said no they said keep it open as a option they also offered me a c63 AMG with performance package with quite few options that i would choose
If you really want the 63, Do your homework, get an INDY tech to come to this dealership and give it a good bill of health. Plus get CPO warranty maximum from the dealership on this car. Secondly, ask for the Vehicle History Report, not same as Carfax. This report should give you a good summary of what's been fixed under warranty, and how it was maintained. This is a $80K + car, it's not cheap to maintain. If they don't give you a CPO for the car, walk away. Highly suggest you think about long term costs of ownership, depreciation before you make a jump to a e63. Great car, but gotta pay to play..
Get your money back, and then start looking again. Don't let this one dealership sour you on an SL55! I am actually selling my Ferrari F430 because since I got my SL55 I just never drive it, and since I had the bumper resprayed to fix all the track rash from last season, I drive it even less.
I love the SL55...go find the right one!
But I do have a McLaren MP4-12C on order
