factory wheel questions...

What are the tire sizes that go onto the sport package 030 wheels for the SL55 (I think it's the same setup for the SL65 as the sport package 030 uses this setup from the SL65) ...they are 19's ...

I believe the wheels are 19x8.5F and 19x9.5 or 10" rear right? 255 something front and 295 something rear???

what tire sizes are run/recommended by benz?

I am running a similar setup with 19x8.5 and 19x10.5 and have to get tires...

Whatever you end up getting, just make sure the OD of front & back match as close as possible, less than 0.5" difference is best.

That option was: Front wheels: OEM part number A2114001202, offset 30, 8.5JX19, tire (255/35ZR19) Rear wheels: OEM part number A2114001402, offset 31, 9.5JX19, tire (285/30ZR19)
The 10" rears was another rare option.

good luck

I have been running 255x35x19 on the fronts and 295x30x19 on the rears for about 6 years without any problems on my SL55. The wheels were the 2 piece AMG wheels that are on the SL65 and 55 performance package with the width being 8.5" on the front and 9.5" on the rear. I recently changed the wheels to HRE 20" wheels so that is why the statements are in the past. I also got rid of the PS2's and the dreaded rear tire wiggle.

The same sized tire was used as on the 9.5x19. (285/30ZR19)

I was running Michelin PS'2's. They performed well in the rain, became noisy after about 3,000 miles on the rears and felt unstable at full throttle from a stop. Do a search on PS'2 wiggle on this forum or on the E55 - 211 forum; they tend to hop around. The soft compound is good for grip, wears quickly and are like hockey pucks at temperatures of 40 degrees or lower (poor traction). For the price not one of my all time favorites.

You really don't want to run tires that are too wide for rim.

2007 SL55
This is straight from the 2007 SL55 operators manual. These are the sizes on my 2007 SL55 w/ 030 Performance Pkg which includes the two-piece AMG wheels. I am currently running Bridgestones...original equipment on the car.

I run Pirelli PZero Rosso (Street) and PZero Corsa System (Track) on my Ferrari F430 and LOVE them. Will likely switch to Pirelli when it's time to change tires on the SL55.
