they both are great cars, however as most people who switched from porsches to benz, sl55 is like a daily driver + a nice performer while i cant imagine driving a porsche ALL THE TIME (or at least as much as the sl55). really depends what your needs are as they all say...
and its a totally subjective view, but the porsche design looks outdated

Smile factor. I like that! The Porsche i'm sure would be a much better buy ONLY if your the kind of guy that likes speed. The SL55 AMG however is for the guy that likes speed, AND style. WIth practicality!

I bet the GT3 will outperform the SL on a track, but off the track, the SL has much more compfort. SL is more $, though. Oh, and good luck gettin an '04 GT3 - I believe all allocation spots are filled.

definately gt3...its a lot cheaper, and gives turbo performane without the lag. and being touted as one of the best engines from porsche...so that says alot because they already make bullet proof products.
plus its amore rare car, sl55s are getting a bit common, but if you can get either youre not in a bad position

SL 55,S 55, M3,CL 55
I was just at a porsche dealership with my SL55 and a guy was going thru delivery of his new GT3. When I was leaving, I looked at him thru the rearview mirror and noticed he was looking at my car more than paying attention to the salesman. When I put the top down he actually pointed this out to his salesman. The Gt3 did look like a great car and since my friend owns the dealearship, I will ask for a test drive.

Totally different cars. You decide. The SL55 is way more a complete sports car with all the gadgets. Porsche, well it's a Porsche......plain and uncomfortable, that is why I have never been able to convince myself to buy one.
