I am new to the board and have a question. I cuurently own a 2002 C2 Cab and am interested into moving into 2005 mb certified SL55 AMG. Car has 64,000 miles on it. Have service records from Mercedes seem inorder, although the oil change intervals seem to be at 13,000 miles( I am a believer in 5,000-7,500 milw changes).. I'd like to know what issues may come up with this car, as well as things I should closely look for.

the car is fairly reliable, but... when it goes down it goes down hard.
the things that are weak on the car and _will_ break (60k miles is just about right) are (in no particular order) - front and rear shocks, abc valve blocks, abc tandem pump, ic pump, engine mounts...
the car also has weak lower ball joints and you might or might not need a blower bearing...
the ball joints are $700 to get done on both sides. the abc items are $1500-2500 per item. the ic pump is $500. engine mounts vary, but are generally about $2500 for all three.
those are dealer prices. your indi will be considerably cheaper except for abc work as components and fluid are expensive and there is no way around it
