sl55 value and good local mechanics (LA, CA)
Hey gang, my first post here--was wondering what is the range wholesale and retail value for an 03 sl55 with around 30k miles.
Also, does anyone know any trustworthy and good mechanics in the LA area? The closer to Santa Monica the better. I would like a mechanic to check out an SL55 I'm looking at--and I need more than the bull**** 'safety' inspection MBZ offers.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum my fellow LA SL buddy. You might give a call over to DC Performance right off the 10 & Robertson, 800.841.8979, they might be able to help you. Otherwise if you want to go out to the west valley, I can let you know about another place.

Hey! Funny you mention DC--I know them from when I had a viper. I PM'd Dan 2 days ago, and he said they do more work with the E55's but that he'd be willing to take a stab at the SL....
Although he's extremely reputable in the car/performance world, I was hoping to find someone that could confidently say they do plenty of SL's

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
Comparable....
I just sold an exceptional 03 55 with 31k, obsidian, with EVERY option, in superb condition, fully sorted, for middle 36's. Values will vary wildly based on options, color, condition, and history.

Just my .02, but
I wouldn't want to use Manheim as an example on an 03/04 SL55. With a few exceptions, you just don't get a good look at them, and these cars are complicated. I certainly wouldn't buy one at the auction without a PSI. This would be an example where you'd want to pay a little more for a much nicer car. Most of the earlier (03/4) cars on OVE are not that nice either. Most of the sellers know nothing about them or their history. I assure you, there are no bargains at any Manheim auction at this moment. Again, just my experience, hope this helps.

I bought an '05 a month or so ago. Designo Graphite, panorama, distrionic, etc., 16K miles, perfect condition, 2 sets of wheels/tires and a two year MBZ warranty. I have the original sticker: $141K. I paid a little too much, but knew it going in....$45K. The peace of mind was worth it to me. By the way...love the car.
There are several good shops down here in O.C., if you come this far south. If so, let me know.
