SL55 Audio Upgrade
I have been searching the forum to see if anyone has installed an iPad into their audio system. I have a 2003 SL55 and am thinking about a complete technology upgrade. Not impressed at all with the factory system and need to make a move.
Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen (in pictures) an Ipad installed in some cars. I'm no car audio buff, so I just did what I was told. I have a Pioneer AVIC-120BT along with a JL Audio amp. I think its pretty good. Much better than stock, that for sure. I can watch movies,it displays album art, better Nav, better sound. Its a pretty cool piece of equipment. The only thing that bothers me is... The clock on the dash is off my 20min and it seem to be loosing time by the day. Since I've removed the stock system. There is no way to change the time on the clock on the dash. The more I look at it the more annoyed I get.
A few audio guys told me Pioneer's head unit is the best. However i don't know if thats true. The ones from Sony and Kenwood look real good too. My guess is they all do just about the same thing.

Check in the glove box... My sl55 04 has an aux output that i can hook my ipod to and it works great... Cost is about 8 bucks for the cord that you can get from radio shack....

Look into the latest unit from Alpine. After much searching I had it installed. Had to change trim piece, but came out great. Very fast response. Much better Nav and also shows movies. Better price point than Pioneer or Kenwood also. I-pod response is instant. As for clock time, someone posted a while back to disconnect batteries until exactly 12 noon and then hook back up. Worked like a charm for me.

Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone has advice or knowledge about upgrading the head unit in the SL55. Mine is 2004. After replacing the radio, (Kenwood 9960) removing the disc changer, installed an Alpine 5 channel amp, Hertz speakers, everything works real well, sound is really good. Blue tooth functionality and Garmin navigation blows the factory head unit away. However, my problem is that the alarm system keeps triggering after about 30 seconds of arming it, everytime! (can't leave the car unlocked, more so now that I changed the radio. Any help or comment anyone can bring to this issue is appreciated.
