are the turbine rims an option?

i was on the mbusa website and i saw that the SL55 comes with the 5-spoke amgs, and the turbine rims are an extra option. however, when i went to look at the specs on our SL55 i noticed they didn't charge extra for the turbine rims. can someone clarify this for me?

b4chow,

The turbine wheel is a "no cost" option for the SL55. You can get it with the standard 18" AMG 5-spoke design or the 18" AMG Multi-spoke wheel (turbine). It will show on the MSRP, but with no cost added to the bottom line. I hope this clears things up for you!

Unhappy Turbine Rims

When I read this, I got a little nervous. All the cars I have seen on this site and on others like e-bay all seem to have had the turbine rims. So, I just picked up the phone and called my salesman and asked of teh SL55's that he has delivered so far (he has delivered 3), what wheels came on the car? He said they all had the 5 spoke. I told him that mine (which is built by the way and ready to be put on the boat) better have the turbine wheels or the dealer better be ready to switch them out for me. He said when you go on Netstar to order the car, there is no place to indicate wheels and it comes as it comes. I told him that since it is a zero $$$ upgrade and that since I am paying $10K over list, I want what I want.

He was going to check and get back to me.

Anybody else face this same situation and have to switch wheels after the fact?

multi spokes are on their computer as a N/C option. That's how I ordered mine and that's how it came.

PS..I get more compliments on the multi spoke wheels than anything else besides the Pewter color.

The statements that there is no way to order the car with turbine wheels, and that the cars come the way they come are pure nonsense.

My dealer gave me a MBUSA computer printout showing that the turbine wheels (among other options) had been ordered for me, and that's how the car arrived. My guess is that the salesman knows that the turbine wheels weren't ordered, and he is now trying to B.S. his way though the problem.

I suggest you talk to the sales manager and see what you can work out, because switching the wheels is going to be a significant cost to the dealer - he doesn't have an immediate market for the "old" wheels, unless MBUSA will talke them back, which they probably will not.

Delivery Center should be able to accomodate

Dealer accessories are added at the VPC (vehicle prep center) so there is no logical reason the wheels cannot be switched out there. If you dealer isn't flexible then ask for the number of the zone manager and I'll bet you get action.
