SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: *SL63 + LONG TUBE HEADERS + EXHAUST + TUNE = ??
- 1 3/4 Long Tube Headers
- 3inch 200cell stainless cats
- Dual 3inch stianless mid section
- Rear stainless silencers
- 2 x k&n filters
- Custom tune to suit mods
- The results were a healthy 321rwkw's / 430hp at the treads. On the road the torque delivery was incredible with sharp throttle response,With loads of torque on tap, this SL63 is one to keep your eye out for with the perfomance to match the AMG badge !!!
- We will have the car return further down the track to make some changes to the exhaust to see if we can better the power gain.

Wheelspin affected the post dyno number by an guestimated 10-15hp. So we gained at least 43hp perhaps >50hp. I think more importantly, we picked up 100Nm of torque across virtually the entire rev range. The dyno was a Mainline dyno

Marranos headers for the SL63 is a 4 into 1 type headers. I believe specifically for the SL63, a Try-Yi headers design, will give more power.
Look at this from MBH:
https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-...neak-peek.html
That particular SL63 made 460 rwhp. thats 90 rwhp extra from stock form. they had a renntech Airbox installed, but remember they kep the stock secondary cats and factory exhusts. The only modification was the headers. You could call Ron or Mike @ Dynocomp for more info.
I like the Marranos set up alot. Any right handed driver, should defenitley go with the Marranos

Thanks for the kind words, though a tri y header will never as much hp as a long tube header. We have done countless hours of testing. In our long tube headers we use supercar collectors, the key in our header is the step down at the collector, this maintains velocity in the headers to maintain the lown down power & torque, while keeping the top end power.

there is a dyno chart both from Evosport and MBH with tryi yi headers for the SL63 and they both made more than 43 rwhp. (+70 from MBH, +55 from EVosport)
The Try-Yi longtube from MBH has a better scavenging effect than the one from Evosport

.I'm not dissing your mods, but +43 rwhp with headers, tune, and filters is a bit low . I'm pretty confident the SL63 with MBH longtubes would beat your SL63 on the track
. The only way we could find out is with a race
I cant be bothered arguing, you looking for a job,i have a job going as chief tester and technition & devolper ?
I'll take the 100 Nm / 75ft/lbs increase in torque Sonny got thank you very much!

Sonny, I have a question....
That SL63, did it have an Ecu tune, prior to installing the headers? I think I saw it previoulsy on youtube in your warehouse with a tune but without the exust system.
I was checking the dyno results again on your video. The SL initially made 688 NM. That has to be a tuned 63 Engine, because the SL makes around 630 NM Stock.
If thats the case, then I take everything I said back and your exhust system is the most powerful system I have seen for the SL63
By the way how much does this system cost?

prior to installing all the mods, Did your SL go past 250 km/hr?

Anyway, you guys make works of art, there so good that the car looks better upside down. All that work and all that money for barely a 10% increase, soon
forgotten. Then there's turbo cars, a quick re map and a extra 50 to 100 no
probs. Not fair is it.

As you well know, the SL63 is one of the most detuned of the 63 engines so squeezing more hp out of it pretty tough unless you reatlly start thowing dollars out of it. We were specifally interested in improving torque sub 5000rpm becuase thats where i spend most of my time and on that front a 100Nm increase Sonny achieved is impressive.
FWIW I was told when i purchased the car from mercedes that the car had never been tracked and never flashed. It was owned by an elderly man not a young punk like me. Perhaps this engine is a factory freak torque wise
And i have not had the opportunity to hit the speed limiter yet to see if it has been flashed. If it was flashed i am not sure why the stock hp number would remian standard but the torque increased a lot.
