Godzilla is coming...
First of all, dealership salespersons are a pretty devious crew even with each other...
Walked in my local Nissan dealership Monday on the spur of the moment and saw a black 2012 GTR...my internal 16 year old had instant wood. I noticed a sold tag on it and the sales manager said that is was one of the two black ones they had set aside for a Brazilian buyer and they were waiting for $20000 deposit for each one of them...the deadline being last night @ 5pm...but if they didn't get it by then I could have one of them.
My lack of buyers remorse kicked in...called my finance guy and told him what I was looking at and he started talks with the sales manager @ Nissan. I'm all set as far as financing and I just needed them to have a car for me to drive off the lot...shoot to last night. I get a call @ 6:30pm and the sales manager I was talking to said nothing yet from the Brazilian buyer and if I wanted to come in the morning to drop off my deposit and finish the deal...my finance guy calls me and says he will wire the difference in the morning and along with my downpayment so that the Nissan dealership would have a paid GTR.
What I didn't know was that the sales manager I was talking too was trying to sell the GTR from under another sales manager...AND the Brazilian buyer had come through with the deposits last night @ 7:45pm...which I didn't know about until this morning when I showed up to give my downpayment check.
The sales manager I was talking to was off and the other sales manager that did the original deal with the Brazilian buyer comes out and apologizes profusely that they now don't have a GTR for me...I'm used to Murphy's Law and used to salespersons so I wasn't really upset.
Long story short...they found a red 2012 GTR at another dealership. They are shipping it here on the dealerships dime and will honor the original invoice price that they told my finance guy. Should be here in a couple of hours...pics to come.
PS The interior will need a redo...better leather, suede, and contrasted stitching and modified DCT steering wheel. I'll drive a couple months stock and move towards mid-pipe and a "mild" Cobb tune (they are still working on breaking the 2012 code anyway). I'm keeping the stock head unit and replacing all the speakers and amps...then I should be done...I think.

Here are pics I took after work. I won't be able to drive her home until Monday or Tuesday when the paperwork is fed-ex'd back and forth...dealership is supposed to send the documents tomorrow overnight to my bank and then they will probably overnight them Monday...
The pics below don't do it justice...

I've never really felt the GtR but if AMGFAN is buying...I'm listening. My mind can be changed. Good luck and enjoy and I look forward to hearing the kill stories...I'm still not sold on the looks though. Maybe you can change my mind:-)

The real catcher with this story for me was, "I just happened to walk into my local Nissan dealer".
Unless I happened to break down in front of a Nissan store, the odds of me strolling into a Nissan dealer for sport are nil!
Nice GTR though! Have fun and be safe!

hahahaha I agree with Dino... plus any story that starts with "I just happened to..." always has a happy ending.
My wife does it all the time and she is pretty damn happy "I just happend to walk into Louis Vuitton..."

It definitely got more attention at the dealership than the black one, though.

Jon major congrats buddy! Very nice car...there is a huge GTR following here in the Mid Atl area...lots of them around. The 2012 is supposed to have some new stuff on it by way of looks and performance...with your two other black cars, a black GTR would have carried on your theme...but red looks very good on that car, so either way it's a win...I really LOVE the metallic blue they have for that car as well...gorgeous color!
It's a big car (you can really get that feeling once in and around it), pretty heavy, and you can really feel the weight and presense of the car, it's got a spacious cockpit for a sports car, lots of things going on in there through...like a video game wrapped up in JDM trim outside and inside.

So actually "driving" impressions have to be put on hold...one thing though is the run flat dunlops ARE F@*"&$king noisy as heck and that is when they are new...from other GT-R owners that I talked to it get's worse once you break them in...
I was going to wait on wheels and tires but I might have to pull the trigger on them...I am looking @ some forged alloys (Tech1 110's) and in combination with non-run flats like Yokos (really only option @ 20" size) or PS2 (size issues @ 20" wheels but tire sizes available for 21") would save considerable unsprung weight (going with 20" and NRF a little over 68lbs) and should be quieter...

Car is pretty badass Jon!! What's the deal with all the independent warehouses...don't tell me you are gonna store the E55 now that the GTR is home lol ...show the E some love haha
GTR is great and yeah the tires are noisy...it's a really big car isn;t it? You really feel the weight of this car while driving it...like bulky but fast and lots of gadgets to learn on the inside...and MASSIVE wheels...these GTR guys here locally are running 21's and 22's it's amazing! Especially on a sports car that's crazy unsprung rolling weight...but the engine makes up for some of that

The Forged Alloys (110's) I'm looking at are pretty light. I might jump up to the 21's though...even the 21" 110's are lighter than stock and with the addition of non-run flats they should be significant unsprung weight decrease...add the increase in power and lighter titanium exhaust...its a good start.
