New noise when applying brakes
Ok, this car is driving me nuts now. The original noise seems to be gone, but now I have a new new noise & it sounds worse. See #5 below.

I wasn't even thinking about this before, but now I'm wondering, is this a case of the problems I've heard about with the gas tanks??

If you are referring to the loose fuel baffle issue, I doubt it based on what you have explained thus far. You might try filling the fuel tank completely (costly test these days in know ) and then see if you can still duplicate the noise you are experiencing. My recall on the loose baffle issue was a sort of sloshing/thumping sound that was most prevalent when in turns. I also seem to recall the sound changed some based on the fuel levels and a full tank nearly made the noise go away.
Keep us updated. I am sure someone will be able to help you diagnose what is going on.

This is crazy now . So yesterday I decided to repaint my lug bolts. I thought I could do this without taking the wheels off, my plan was to remove all of the bolts in 2 stages (like 3 each wheel & then 2 each wheel). Of course I re-torqued the bolts when I put them back on.
Go to take the car out this morning, got a clanking noise (not real loud, kind of like tin cans rattling) coming from what sounds like both sides & to the rear, and was speed dependent & happens in reverse too. I took both rear wheels off, inspected & pushed and pulled on rotor, caliper, etc, couldn't find anything loose or unusual looking. I re-installed the wheels, fresh equal re-torque on the lug bolts & still no difference.
I don't think it's a good idea to drive the car in this condition now, so anyone have some ideas . Thanks

Ok, clanking problem is fixed, little did I realize that I have 2 different length lug bolts, & if I put the longer ones in the rear, I got problems .
So now back to the original problem, a little squeak upon first applying the brakes. Maybe a caliper that needs some lube?
