SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: When did they start putting spares in SL55's?

When did they start putting spares in SL55's?
Title says it all. Do you guys know when they started putting the mini spare tire in the SL55?
I ask because my 06 SL55 had a spare, but a few 2003's I've seen online do not appear to have a spare.
Was the mini spare a option from the factory or did they start throwing them in after a certain production date?
I travel between CA and AZ often and I need at least the security of a mini to get me home (even at 55mph) in a pinch. Getting stuck in the desert does not sound like a lot of fun.

So far my research tells me that 2005 is the first year. I have yet to see a 2005+ without one. I have yet to see a 2003-2004 with one. (us models)

I have a 05 Model Year built in August 2004 with a spare. I have looked at some 2004s and they have that fuzzy, cardboard-like liner with a tire-shaped indentation where the spare would be located. So I agree it seems to have been an addition for the 05MY.
