You have to get your mb tech to hook up StarDiag to OBII port & program it for Keyless functionality (they have done dozens here @ my local dealr) You also need to present them your CA DL copy & copy of current vehicle Reg.. I'll post pix etc when it comes in etc..
It doesn't work.

Hmmm my tech says he's done dozens? I guess time will tell (i love the new look & hope he's right?) he's not the average tech, he even knows how to keep Stardiag lowering settings (evry othr tech ive dealt w/hadn't slightest clue, & or few key cycles Starlowering would revert to oem settings etc)

Interesting. Hopefully Sean comes through for us.

I ordered a new chrome key and will pick it up any day now. They tell me it won't be keyless go...hopefully they are wrong.

Sean, where in Socal are you? Diego? LA?

Legit. If your tech can do this, it is absolutely worth a drive up the coast.

The parts guy gave quoted me $266 (Hommie hook-up price) for chrome key + $15 more for blade key and I have to pay additional charges to program for key-less start.

The other prices he gave me was just basic key with remote entry and key in ignition to start was $187.50

I just choose the full feature I have a feeling it might gonna cost pretty close to $400.00 I will update total coast once I have the new key

No - totally stock.

Might hold off on mods for a while. Came out of a 996TT with mods and spent too much $$.

Aftermarket warranty first, then add XM radio somehow, and a new key - that's it for now - but... same think I said when I bought my stock white TT with X50 package. -haha

I should have kept it - the SL55 and TT would make a killer combo in the garage.

When I talked to the parts guy I was under the impression that for over 300 I would get the chrome key with keyless go. Now I got the black key and I have to pay additional for the programming. I was told that the chrome key doesn't come with keyless go it would only work the basic lock unlock key and key in ignition to start.I told him I would rather have the chrome key for $187 + tax without the keyless go. He told me differently when I placed the order. Man I got jack now he's gonna ask his manager and see what he can do for me

Welcome to the league!

People are trying to make the chrome key work with KG on older R230s for a little more than 3 yrs now. I was one of them...

And all they/we ended up with is:
