ABC Sport button won't light up...was it an option on 2004?
My ABC sport button does not light up with the red dot when I press it......I swear my SL500 did that when I had it a few years ago. No warning lights are on....was ABC an option on the 55 in 2004 (and thus maybe my car didn't have that option purchased)? Or do all 55's just have one suspension mode (since it's an AMG and not a normal SL.....meaning the suspension is already better than the normal SL....and probably the normal SL in ABC Sport mode)?

If it doesn't lit up, than this could be due to two reasons:
A) LED broken
B) ABC broken
You'll need to take it to the dealer to find out.

your car should have abc - all amg sl cars have it all years
go 60-70mph in a straight line. nudge just a bit (less than an inch) the steering wheel in either direction and feel how the body responds (you will feel front and then back end "settle").
press the button
repeat the nudging. feel it significantly tighter/faster or looser?
if no difference- your abc modes are not working properly. if difference- the led on the abc sport button is out.

It seems to be tighter.....I'd have to think if there was some sort of malfunction with the ABC that a warning light would come on or it would be significantly noticeable.
Can one of you check something? Does your ABC light come on for a split second when you start the car (for instance, the 2 LED suspension lights come on for a split second when car is started....I assume almost like a self check). Also, if you turn on the ABC while driving and then turn car off (with ABC still on)....will it start in ABC Sport mode the next time you turn the car on....or does it start in normal mode again? Thanks.

Put the ignition in the ON position w/o starting the car (two taps on the Keyless Go button w/o applying the brake.) All indicators will illuminate including the one in the ABC button if it is working. Also when I change ABC modes the selected mode reads out in the display under the tach for about three seconds after I push the button. Hope that helps.

Hmm.....no red LED is coming up on ignition on, either......and nothing comes up in the tach when I press the button. Is that your 600 that does this? For those of you who have 2003/2004 models, does it show in the tach when you press the button?

Yes, it is the 2005 SL600 I was describing. I know that the 2004 has a different Nav system which could result in different display features. The red light should still illuminate as I described.
