Automatic trunk lock assist stopped working

I installed new struts a few weeks ago, reset Fuse 71 ( 20 amp) and the trunk lock assist mechanism and the trunk open switch inside the car worked for about a month.

I know have the trunk open switch inside the car lit red all the time and it doesn't release the trunk. I can open and close the trunk by hand.

Question: If you manually close the trunk all the way with "some force" and don't allow the trunk lock assist to intervene to close the trunk all the way, does the system always malfunction or go into this "no work" manual only mode. Flaw or design issue?

I played with fuse 71 again and reinserted and it reset the system back to normal operation again....normal?? Thanks in advance for any insight......

You are leaking air at the rear lock. If the pump times out 3 times it shuts off the offending/ leaking section of the pneumatic system. Resetting the fuse allows you to time out 3 more times. Search the forum. The problem is most likely in the junky plastic air distribution block located inside the trunk lid next to the handle. The unused ports are plugged with pellets which tend to crack the plastic so air leaks develop. Epoxy is your friend if you don't have warranty.

Trunk will not open anyway but manual and Dashboard says to close the trunk every time I stop. Could this be an electrical problem? if so how can I diagnose it?
