SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: New Motor Mounts - Another Engine Out
Called my indie who diagnosed it as leaking engine mount(s) and said to take it to the dealer as the engine would need to come out to fix things. Took the car in to my dealer, they agreed and replaced both engine mounts, tranny mount, and also a leaking tranny park pawl, all under warranty. Took them 11 days to get the car back to me!
Engine and tranny were out, my SA showed me a picture of my engine out of the car, he is going to email it to me.
Good news is that, in addition to new "improved design" mounts I pretty much got everything serviced for free, A/C charge, oil change, new coolant, new I/C system coolant, new ABC fluid and system bled, new brake fluid and system bled, new tranny fluid and filter, and alignment (to my specs). I of course paid for my deductable, the oil filter, tranny filter, and the tranny electrical connector known to leak. Total tab was outrageous.
Got the car back Friday, it drives perfectly, dealer did an outstanding job.

Quite a bit of fluid had also run back under the side underbody pans, almost back to the rear wheels, from driving the car.
The dealer cleaned everything up beautifully when I got the car back. No evidence of any fluid anywhere.

otherwise little mischievous fingers and patience of steel are required to squeeze the engine mounts in and out with only a couple inches of engine lift while still in the car

Enclosed pic is of my engine out of the car. A/C compressor stayed with the engine, and front brakes came off with the subframe. None of this would be necessary to replace mounts on an E63, much easier job.
