Stock 19" wheels - what would they go for?
Quick question on behalf of a friend with an r230.
She recently "upgraded" wheels with the ones seen in the background (
) and now has the stock 19x8.5/9.5 wheels for sale.
As I'm in C-Class land normally, I'm not sure how much these would go for used. I haven't seen them personally so don't know about actual condition, but assume there's normal wear'n'tear. Just looking for ballpark numbers and know that chrome may actually detract from the sale. Tried searching the classifieds, but didn't come up w/ old ads for the same set. Thanks in advance!

It really depends on the wheel style and if they are AMG wheels. Are they really 19s or could this be a mistake? The only stock 19s on an R230 are on the SL65 AMG. If that is what she has, they could be worth a lot. The best thing to do if possible is post some photos.

They are real AMGs as far as I can tell since she provided the specs/part numbers stamped on the back of the wheels. Although I was expecting A230xxxx, I've now heard/read that c219 cars also ran the same wheels? I did find one old classified ad for "WTB OEM SL55 wheels" and the pic the guy included had this wheel shown.

That's the forged "AMG Performance Wheel" of the current R230 AMG SLs. It's probably the most expensive factory wheel ever offered for any SL. It is manufactured by FUCHS (http://www.fuchsfelge.de/) for AMG and is pretty light weight. In fact... it's probably THE BEST WHEEL ever produced for the R230 IMO.
However, it was never offered in chrome AFAIK. Currently..., I got a "painted black" version of these wheels on my 55 (see attached pic). Sorry, you can't really see a lot of detail of the wheels on that pic... but that's just the idea behind blacked out wheels.

Thanks Sharkster.....I bought these wheels for my SL65 and were told by my MB dealer they(by part number) would be $11,000 from the dealership. I was able to pick them up used for less than half that and began to wonder if I bought a copycat or rechromed set. So hopefully I got a good deal.

I will have to recheck these part numbers with my MB dealer. I was told these wheels were factory original and were offered only for the 2011 SL65AMG. But that information was from the seller and not from MB. I had given the part number to the dealer and they just confirmed it was a wheel and price would be $11,000 for the set of 4. Hearing that price I assumed they were chrome but there is no guarantee as to the finish on the $11,000 wheels. Comparably, he original antracite only priced out at $7,000

Went to my MB dealer to check out the part numbers I had for the chrome forged AMG wheels. And you guys are correct. The part number comes up for a forged AMG 19 inch wheel but there is no designation as to "finish". But the head of the parts department told me as far as he knew MB stopped making chrome wheels many years ago due to a flaking problem around the bead which led to many slow leaks in tires. He said the wheels I had were probably sent out for chroming, maybe at the buyers request. He said they sometimes send wheels out for chroming at their shop for customer special requests.
