SL65 AMG with no error code but not faster than SL63, please help diagnosing
One of my friends has SL65 AMG, 2005, bi turbo, the car became slow, it has no error codes, took it to the technician to check it, and they confirmed nothing wrong with it.
I asked him to bring it on and we will check the IATs and intake area & path to try to find out what went wrong with it.
Recently, he had race his brother in his SL63 and the 63 could pass him with no issues although in the past the 65 used to walk the 63, then suddenly it got slow.
I am trying to check out what's wrong in this case, but I have no experience in 65 platform,
What is usually the IAT range for stock car in 27 - 30 degC (80 - 87 deg F)?
How many IC pump does the 65 has?

Pretty standard stuff....start with the intercooler pump.
And hope to hell that Sound8 doesn't see this thread. He'll confuse you and say that the SL63 is faster than the SL65, and hilarity will ensue.

Show me one thread where I say the SL63 is faster in a straight line than a
SL65. If you look at my last thread concerning buying a 63 or 65, all I say
is the 65 is faster in a straight line, but the 63 imo is a better all round car.
Give me a break!! And I was going to say that MB told me the i/c pump was
faulty according the diagnostic on my S600, I had it changed and sure it
was crisper, but I am not sure it was that noticable, perhaps on a 65 it's different.

When my intercooler pump failed, there were no error codes. The tech verified the pump was dead only when he found that the pump was not getting any power via a multimeter.
When the pump was dead, my car could not "**** off" traction control when I floored it in a straight line.
With the new pump, traction control gets very upset with me all the way to 80 mph when I floor it.

2007 Väth SL65 AMG. 2007 BMW Alpina B5s. 2007 BMW M6.
That sure was funny!
And it's all about the tranny and the high revs...
But seriously, it doesn't even have to be the pump.
There can be just air pockets, and that's enough to create the same symptoms!
And in that case, just take it to the dealer, and have it bled...
