Performance up grades sl 55
Hi: I just bought a 04 sl 55 and was looking for more power. Read some about ECU upgrade and flywheel. Anyone have recommendations for company to purchase and install. I am located in Tarzana, California. Thanks for your help.

Hi Terry,
As you can see from my signature and build thread I'm a fan of RennTech. A lot of Mercedes dealerships are also certified dealers and installers as is the case with my dealership. Their stuff is quality but it is also expensive. If you're on a tighter budget, other companies such as EvoSport, Fab Speed, and a few others you will find listed on these forums perform similar tunes on SL 55's for much lower prices. For the quickest bang for your buck, I would start out with an ECU tune, larger crank pulley, and if the budget permits some nice headers. You can progress from there if you want more.
Hope this helps.

I have a couple of suggestions for you. First, I am not sure how far you are from Huntington beach, but I would take a ride over to see the boys at EvoSport. I have talked with Simon many times and purchased headers and a few misc. items. EvoSport has good products, but are expensive. Renntech is still the gold standard in MB mods if you ask me. I have a number of RT products. You will pay significant jack for them however. You should also search Eurocharged and other modders on the forum. I am currently running an EC dyno tune that i am happy with. Finally, I would search long tube headers and the modding path of ECU tune and LTHs as the first round of mods. Most people do tune and pulley first as did I. If I had to do it over again, I would have started with LTH and a tune.
Good luck. Let us know what direction you do and post up any specific questions you might have after doing some research. The guys on this forum are great and will help you out.

Hey, I'm your neighbor, I live in Tarzana too. I can let you know about some tuning & some local tuner options, we should meet up sometime. Also, maybe you want to get some new wheels too? I have some that you might be interested in

Check out Kleemann. As far as Renntech in Atlanta, if memory serves, there is a MB dealer in Atlanta that is a Renntech dealer as well. You can always call RT in Florida. They can tell you about RT installers in your area.
