SL55 w/ cutouts
I thought I would share my latest mod with you guys. Last week we had about an hour at the end of the day. So we installed some electric cutouts I got from he good guys at QTP. Since I am electrically challeged, I had the guys at Dyno-Comp wire them up with a toggle switch (included in the kit) down buy the OBDII port.
Fabbing the included adapter pipes the cutouts mount to obviously to come cutting grinding, coping out, I already had a resonator delete done. So that seemed like the perfect place to install them. In fact its just about the only place you can install them on an SL55. I also noticed I have a power steering leak, that some how coated my whole exhaust in a nasty film.
We did have to drop the whole exhaust to weld the tops of the adapter pipes. With my header fitted with Vband clamps it was a breeze. Other than it take a billion turns with a socket wrench to un-thread those clamps (Drill was MIA). Its want to bad of an install, Fab wise.
I dont have anything respectable for a sound clip. However there is a video in my Facebook page. If you care to visit it and check it out. I will soon have something much better for a video.
As for the sound. At full open, its way over the top. and I mean way over the top. Its so damn loud. I had a crowd at the local Safeway grocery store look on with a WTF look on their face. I have to say its a great loud though.
As for the drone when they are wide open. Not going to lie, its skull crushing. Nice thing is all you have to do is flick the switch and the drone is gone. You and also open the cutouts a little bit for a more aggressive tone or dial it in.
So you have these settings: Normal, cool, Awesome, Drone/awesome, and Monster Truck. For now vist my FB page for a sound clip shot with a cell phone. Tomorrow I will upload something more worthy.
