MB Stock 17" wheel fitment for SL65
I wanted to try to find out if any of the Stock MB 17 inch wheels will fit correctly over the brakes and rotors of an SL65. Does anyone have this information or could someone direct me to a source for this information. There are plenty of near new 17 takeoffs on "that" auction site for a steal but would just like to be sure before taking the plunge. SL500's seem to be common. Thanks!

18"s fit ALL SL65 rears.. Here's plenty of Dragtimes proof, guys list 18" drag wheels/tires in mod list on Bone Stock SL65 rear calipers/rotors..

Don't confuse this w/larger Front brakes etc, they'll require 19" @ least..

Is that true for the rear as well as the front. I sort of expected it for the front but thought I may be able to pull it off for the rears. So aren't there any options for drag radials or slicks other than 19's. I was hoping for something smaller so I could gain some sidewall flex.

I run stock 5-star SL600 rims from 2004 rear at the strip. Got Hoosier 305's on them.
18" for sure, and I believe 10" wide...
(Tried 17" OZ prior to that, without success.)

Sort of what I thought. I am thinking of going that route. I was planning on trailering to the track anyway just in case something goes wrong. I am over an hour from all the tracks in my area and I really don't want to pay a tow truck. Plus it will be nice to have the ability to start off with a "cool" engine.

One wheel fits in the boot (just about). And the second wheel in a friends car.
Just make sure that your engine's not too cold... Nor tranny.
BTW, have you now bought an SL65, or what..?

No, I would never own one if those pieces of German crap......I drive a Kia When I bought my 65 I thought I would "pamper and baby" it. But the bug has bitten and now I drive it the way it was meant to be driven(well maybe not). I have made a group of friends through my mechanic and we are already planning track trips for next spring and summer. So far there are some Lambos, Ferrari's, BMW's and Audi's in the group and representing MB is an E55AMG, a C63AMG and my SL65AMG.....some friendly competition. I am the only one with truck and trailer so I will be the designated ambulance Next week the transformation begins...I hope to reach 625 rwhp when finished

Thanks for the tip!
That appeared impossible to me, when I tried to fit the 17" OZ back there...
Are the wheels perhaps in steel then (which alouds the material to be thinner), or still in aluminum..?

I just received an email from Rich Bogart about his 17 inch rear wheels for the SL65. He said they weigh approx 17 lbs each in 12 styles. He said he has correct fitment for 03 thru 07 but can't confirm if they will fit a 2008. He was't sure if there were any brake or offset changes. I told him I didn't think so but he thought it was best if I could confirm it. So if anyone can confirm that information it would be much appreciated.
