Hi all!
I just sold my supercharged C6 Corvette and bought a 2005 SL55 AMG with an extended warranty. I'm 25 and in Real Estate Management.
I've wanted one of these cars ever since I first layed eyes on it. This design is timeless and I'm going to try to describe how it feels to finally own one.
It's like... dare I say it, love. I have this stupid sh*t eating grin on my face whenever I'm in it. Butterflies in my stomach, weak knees, I've got it bad ladies and gentlemen.
Driving to work this morning, not a care in the world, top down, windows up, a brisk 52*F listening to the Airborne Toxic Event. The feeling is still surreal.
This car is everything that the corvette wasn't, civilized, quiet, smooth, squeek-free! The only similarity is that they are both blindingly fast. So therefore, I am very comfortable saying that I am in love with this car.
Just wanted to say hello. Here's a pic on the Wilmington Riverfront. I bought it off a Union Welder, hence the Euro Tag. I'll have to figure out something clever to put there instead or just remove it.

Welcome.
Your post made me smile. I got my SL55 in 2009 and was 25 at the time (also in the real estate game).
Both of my SL's made me grin...and sometimes laugh like a physco...when I hit the gas.
As for the inter-cooler pump, they are prone to failure. Your only hint that it is bad will be a loss of power. If your car suddenly feels slower at times, and faster at other times, the pump is likley bad. The repair shop can run codes and more often then not, a bad intercooler pump will cause a code "engine intake temperature too high." That said, when I had to replace my intercooler pump, this code was not present. Yet I was SURE the pump had gone bad and insisted the shop look into it more. Sure enough, the shop found that the pump was not getting any voltage and replaced the pump.
Who is your aftermarket warranty through?

The warranty is through Auto Source. It's the Gold package which covers basically everything and is transferrable.
I agree about now vs. later. Who knows if there will be a later and if I play my cards right, this is only the beginning.

I'm a bit older than you but I also sold a supercharged Vette when I got my SL55. It is a far better car than the Corvette ever could be. Just not as fast. I grew up thinking you could never have too much HP. Wrong. In the Corvette it woud not hook up until 4th gear. It was a lot of fun and did get much better gas mileage than the SL even with it having 700 hp. That said I don't think I will ever sell my SL it is just way too nice of a car. Enjoy your new toy.

Congrats and welcome aboard.
The SL is an awesome machine, in a different zip code from the C6.

2005 SL55
had to add my 2 bits...
I have owned the car for a good while now, but the giddy feeling (ok love), the grim when I press down with my right, and the rest of the emotions are all still familiar.
I do not post often, but the opinions here were worthy of a second (and then some).
Bottom line, it is a beautiful car in so many ways...
To all our my brethren, enjoy and salute!!! (that's "Sláinte" for you Irish types)

Welcome to the club. The R230 is one special piece of machinery. A note of cation, don't get caught sitting in it in the garage like I have a few times. I grin every time I hit the start button.

I loved my SL55 grinned every time I got on it! With my SL65 I laugh hysterically!
I loved my SL55 and thought with over 500HP on tap that nothing could ever be better.... I was absolutely Wrong!
As it turned out at the exact moment I was thinking that there could never be a better car then the SL55 the same small company in Germany (AMG) that produced the SL55 had another trick up their sleeves...
Imagine your SL55 with another 100HP and 250lbs more torque plus with even better brakes... That is the SL65!
I no longer grin when I roll on the insane power... I laugh hysterically all the time!
Now I don't look in my mirror for COPS... I look for the men in white suites who are trying to catch the laughing lunatic driving at warp speeds...
