2013 SL 65 AMG Debuts at NYC Autoshow

Read it here: 2013 SL 65 AMG Debuts at NYC Autoshow

Big power, and even bigger torque. This model marks AMG's 45th anniversary, so of course it's a monster. Actually, that's not entirely fair. It's a a monster in a tuxedo. Info and pictures in the link above. Or just jump to the the press photos here.

They destroyed the look of the car. Two things I like are the brakes and interior. The body is a huge fail. The one picture of the profile with top down is downright awful.

In 09 they sold about 100 SL65's at 200k. I think at 300K they are going to hear crickets.

Wonder if it looks better in person and will look better over time?

Maybe it drives great... But visually I don't like it at all.

Blame the new pedestrian protection laws in EU.
All new cars have that ungainly bulky front now....

Agreed, for a $200k plus car it should look stunning, exquisite, perfect, ideal, amazing.... not like every other 2 seater out there. Yes it has some good points and the tech and powertrain are without equal BUT it's got no lines, no curves, no, well, nothing to really catch your eye and go wow I have to have that in my life... Not like the tingle I get when I see the curves gently flowing over the hood of my 08 E63. Even though it's understated as well it's at least got soem pizazz... imho... At that price range the car should have the visual impact of the SLR, BAM WOW ZING type of thing. Not a 'oh is that a Mercedes?' With that styling at first glance you might think it had a v6! Look at the SLR and you KNOW, you just KNOW, it's one BAMF... heck one listen tells you that. The exhaust note for the big v12 wasn't too great either, I was hoping for much more...

That said I cannot argue that Merc may have been forced to design this in such a way as to be quieter, green friendly, crash friendly and all the other BS that makes awesome cars normal.

BTW I got to sit in an SLR, what a magnificent machine! Admittedly the seats were like rocks but hey at least it's a cool freaking rock! I highly recommend you give it a try just for the experience opening the door is a trip
