Cracked wheels
I had a leaky tire, i thought. It turns out there are 3 cracks in the rear wheel and one in the front on the inside of the wheel coming from the tire. The cracks come up about 1-1.5 inches.
Has anyone else had a problem with cracking stock aluminum Sl55 AMG wheels cracking?
Where can i get replacements for a reasonable price? I have one price of $1200 a wheel.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

ok ok
I didn't just post this without looking. I did look further and did a search while in wheels and tires and found that this is not an unheard-of problem. Sorry for apparently looking/posting in the wrong spot. You'd think the search would cover all areas/forums. Maybe i did it wrong.
Anyway, anybody got some OEM wheels for an '07 SL55?

Can you please post pics of the cracks? This is a major thing IMO. Shouldn't be taken on lightly. I have OEM AMG wheels on my ride too... I stayed away from replica wheels because I wanted to avoid things like that.

OK
I'll see what i can do about a pic. I searched the SL forum and didn't see anything. I then found tires and wheels below and searched, bingo, take a look. I want to assume it is due to big alum wheels on a heavy car, hitting big bumps and holes at speed. Ya can't miss 'em all. Alum cracks when stressed. I know people with Alum dump bodies, they can crack too at stress points.
I called my insurance company and am having everything checked next week. If it happens again i'll look for another solution, until then i'm rollin' on.

2013 SL550 AMG package wheels cracked
3 out of the 4 wheels have cracked at different times and had to be replaced to the tune of $1400 each at the dealer. Low mileage, no extreme use.
It appears to be a common occurance on these wheels. Mercedes says the wheels are not a warranty coverage. I feel this is very wrong and should be covered as they are obviously defective. This is also a safety concern. There should be some basis for a recall item. Any attorneys out there?

I've had 2 with hairline cracks both on the inside but a wheel shop were able to repair, looked like new when completed, cost 150.00 per wheel. They stated they could completely repair all rash marks & repaint for about 750.00 per set..

Defective wheels
Thank you all for for your suggestions to replace or repair Mercedes defective wheels. Perhaps the best and easiest fix is to go with a more responsible brand of car in the future. This was my first and bought a second different model. Like the cars but for the price I would expect some responsibility for their product! These are not Smart Cars, oh excuse me they also make that car.

I recently sold my '07 SL55 but kept the wheels. Let me know which ones you need and I'll check them. the rears have good tires but the fronts don't. I also had a couple repaired for small cracks, but can't remember which ones, thus the reason to check them (they're in storage).

I have also had some small bends in two of my rims repaired, apparently from pot holes. Low profile tires can only protect the rim so much.
There are good repair shops out there and my local MB dealer did the repair through an independent wheel shop for me. I think I paid about $150 a rim as well.
