No, not that I'm aware of. The Texas Transportation Code (§ 502.404) states "A person commits an offense if the person operates on a public highway during a registration period a passenger car or commercial motor vehicle that does not display two license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle." I've got a little background in this (Police Chief) ;^).

Was pulled over last week for the first time ever for no front plate. I have not ran a front plate in over 13 years on any of my vehicles. In WA you are not required to run a front plate if there are no holes FROM THE FACTORY to hold on the plate. Seeing as they are all dealer installed, you can usually get out of this.

Got a front plate ticket 2 days ago for 90 bucks in MD, first time I got it on the car, and don't care, rather pay the 90 bucks then drill holes in my bumper

I got one in MD. recently but they had to waive it. They can only ticket cars registered in MD.

In D.C. I only get them from parking enforcement.

Yeah I hate that in DC, I have a private parking spot for work but when I park on the street I have to remember to put the plate in my window, what I hate the most is DC will ticket anyone that doesn't have a front plate if they are aware of your state law's (MD/VA are required to have front plates so they will ticket you, but if you have a PA plate they will leave you alone as they don't need the plate)

From what I notice doesn't happen in when I'm in Georgetown, Friendship Heights or Spring Valley, but when I'm in Adam's Morgan or Downtown near Constitution Ave. Those parking enforcement guys will ticket you the moment they see something they can get money for.

So Chief, do you have a front plate? If so how was it mounted? Pictures please.

I don't currently have a front plate on the car. It was never installed. Hence the search for the front bracket. Not overly enthusiastic about some of the prices North of $300 for an OEM bracket, though.

SL front license plate bracket

I have an '06 SL55 and I still have an unused OEM front license plate bracket still wrapped in the factory plastic. If it will fit your car, I'd let it go for a heck of a lot less to a member of this wonderful forum. I will never need or use it since North Carolina thankfully does not require front plates. Just let me know.

I suspect it would fit. Thanks for the offer. What would you like to get for it?

I know it’s an old thread but does anyone still have the factory plate bracket they now longer need? My car came with the clean front bumper.
I put my plate off to the side but it’s causing way to many glitches with the parking sensors. I thought I had dial it in but than it moves a millimeter and the symphony of beeps starts again.
