Just installed Akebono brake pads and upgraded Bosch IC pump

The Akebono pads have good bite and don't squeak. I just washed my car so I'll have to let you know about the brake dust issue in a few days. Nothing can be worse than OEM pads in terms of brake dust.

I'm guessing my old IC pump was completely dead because the car pulls like a raped ape now. It made a HUGE difference! I replaced it with the upgraded Bosch pump, but I'm sure the Johnson CM30 pump would be an upgrade from the stock pump as well.

Now I just need dyno numbers and maybe a dyno tune!

How many miles are on your car or how many did the pump have before you replaced the pump?

48,000 miles on the car. I assume it was the stock pump from 2003. Bosch pump that ended in 003 versus the upgraded one that ends in 010.

Miles probably don't matter, as I had to replace mine when I first got my car, when it only had 16,000. May be more of an age related factor?

I've had Akebonos on my fronts for about 10k miles.....I drive a lot (10k miles is about 4-5 months for me) and I have a terrible lead foot.....meaning I stop suddenly (in other words...I work the brakes harder than 99% of people). They not only were a lot cheaper than OEM pads...but there has been pretty much no brake dust (OEM pads sucked on fronts).

I can't really compare Akebonos to OEM in terms of how they bite because I'm used to good-biting brakes....but I'd have to say the difference is nominal, if any. Akebonos have gotten great reviews on this board (I did the research before buying, as well).

Kleeman is conservative when it comes to the tune. With the parts list you have, that SL should make over 530+hp/570+tq with an aggressive tune. I would add injectors to be safe. Your car should run in the very low 11 sec range around 125mph. Raped ape is right.

That's about what I was thinking too in terms of hp/tq. I had awesome success with my EC tune on my old E55, so I might see what Jerry can do with my SL. That said, I doubt I'll ever take my car to the track, so I might just keep it as is.
