New SL55 with unique colour in the world?
Finally my SL55 has arrived !
The pics dont do it justice cos of the light. But the colour is Chalcedony blue which is almost a varicolour - beige, ice-blue, to Blue to silver depending on the light
I managed to persuade the Designo rep at the Geneva Motor Show to include this unadvertised colour. It is mainly for the S500 i think. It was demonstrated as such at the show on a 4-matic.
It is full option (without the pano) and has black nappa designo interior and no stitching on the dash cos it would reflect in the light.
I take delivery next saturday after they have put in blue ''AMG'' lighted sills next week.
Total price here - 236,000 swiss francs or at today's dollar rate $175,200. You guys are lucky over the pond ! **** !
3 questions to the forum if I may :-
1) what is the recommended run-in mileage ? They are telling me here in Geneva no wacking it for 1000 kilometres. Are they right ?
2) do you have in the US a satnav cd for the whole country ? here i can only get ''Switzerland and the French Alps plus all major roads of western europe''. what do you have available from dealers ?
3) what are other countries Television channel availabilities ? In switz i get 3 channels.... :-(
Anyway more full sunlight pics to follow after the real delivery next week...I cant wait
By the way the MB rep here is adamant that at end 2003 a new roadster is being released - not the SL65 as ppl are saying on the forum (he has never heard of it) but the (wait for it !)
SL62 (!)
is this news to anyone ?
best regards to all in the forum for extremely valuable advice and special thanks to PaulD in the UK for poo pooing my former car - a lexus sc430 and making me change my thought processes !

Nice car, congratulations! I've heard rumors of a naturally aspirated 6.3 liter V8 making over 500HP coming in the next 2 years. Could this be the new SL62?

Congradulations!
Nice Color.
Actually that color has been availabile in the U.S. for a while now.
Here it is called Diamond Silver.
I almost got that color on my SL but I didn't see enough pictures to convince me to get it so I ended up with Brilliant Silver.
I wish I would have seen pictures of your car before, I may have changed my mind.

Looks very much like "tellur silver" here in the UK , which is the colour of ours.
Oh , by the way , in one of the photos , it looks as if they've put the steering wheel and everything on the wrong side.
I'll just get my coat !

no its not tellur silver or diamond silver - its chalcedony blue and is not availble for the SL55 according to the MB rep here - you have to do a bit of persuading with the designo rep. there was a car in the garage next to mine which was tellur silver and i can tell you that that was a different colour to mine
