I am thinking about swapping out my grill. I have two grills that are the 4 slat version but was thinking about a single slat.

This is for my 2005 SL55 in black.

How about some pics of your upgraded/replaced grill and a poll of your favorite style!

I'm starting to think that blacking out the 3 or 4 slat grill and leaving the star is the best look.

From straight on, there is not much difference, but from angles, the single slat grill can look a bit awkward. I may soon throw a 4 slat grill (painted black) back on my current SL600.

My old 2006 SL55 with painted black 4 slat grill:

This is exactly the look of my 04 SL55. Personally, I think its best.

Triple.Sevens photos are exactly what I'm talking about.

From the front on, the single slat grill looks great.

His signature picture though is from the side, and I think the side profile shows how the single slat grill can look a bit awkward on the early R230.

Is that a 55 tech grille? With the mesh?

Just giving you **** bro, it's your SL. I was all stealth in my blown vette but I'm keeping it classy with my AMG.

Yea my car shed its tux when I cut the cats and resonators out..what was once classy is now obnoxious. I get where your coming from considering you've owned a Z06.

IDK about that. I'm all for blacking a car out nd the chrome (unless it's an antique), but I feel like the Mercedes star should be left alone. It's just made to shine

I still think the pre facelift R230's are the best looking one and the side profile is better then the facelift one's. With the Euro regulations for pedestrians I'm thinking the newer German cars are going to start looking clunking. I'm happy with my grill.

Damn, the carbon wrap looks sweet, and on a Pewter beast if I am not mistaken.

Oh, but I do love the R230 in White.
