Having a Renntech IC pump installed tomorrow
After much research, I decided on the very expensive Renntech IC pump. My local MB dealer is installing the pump tomorrow, I will report back with any noticeable improvements. My original pump is working just fine, this is strictly a precautionary move.
I'm thinking of moving forward with their CF air box upgrade as well.
Anyone have any experience with Renntechs CF air box?

Thoughts?
So, how do you like the renntech pump? I installed a CM 30 in my 06 SL65 and at times, she just feels dead. I wonder if I have an air pocket in there somewhere or maybe the CM 30 just isn't all that?

Why would somebody in their right mind go for a rentech pump when the stock updated part is plenty and costs a fraction?
Just curious what the reasoning is behind such decision.

Why would somebody in their right mind go with a Speedriven or KLEEMANN ecu tune when the factory ecu tune is plenty and comes with the car? Just curious what the reasoning is behind such a decision.

PDC, I didn't have any problems before with the old stock IC pump, it was purely a precautionary move, and thus far, I have not noticed any differences. However, the MB Tech that almost exclusively works on the AMG's, said, he's seen well over 2 dozen SL65's with IC pump failures, so much so, that it's the first thing he looks for when an SL65 comes in complaining of loss of power. He did say that over half of the owners decided to go with another OEM IC pump (mostly because it was covered by warrantee), but most, upgraded to a larger pump.

Because a tune will provide more power over stock. The Renntech pump on the other hand will provide noadded performance benefits over the stock updated Bosch pump which flows plenty and is $120 shipped and I have yet to see a single one of them fail. Mine ran for years dry (air in the system) and is still good after I fixed the bleeding problem a few weeks back (there is a thread I posted on the subject)

I believe failure of the original factory pumps is well documented. Particularly in the 06 model year. Is the pump that mb currently uses to replace failed units 'better' than the troublesome units that came from the factory? I thought I had bullet-proofed my stock cooling system with the Johnson cm30, but I sense pretty dramatic swing in power from one day to the next. Maybe I should start by having the system bled and re-filled to confirm no air in the system.

The new stock pump is superior to the old one and is on par or better than the johnson pump volume wise. You can recognize it by the last two digits in the part number being "10".

If you do get a little air in the IC circuit, is it likely to manifest itself as an intermittent problem, or is it likely to present as a constant condition? I will say that the car ran like an absolute BEAST yesterday - and it was in the mid 80s. Also, I tend to drive the car pretty gently most of the time. Maybe the adaptive throttle and trans programs had just gotten soft? Since I had some concers about whether or not the pump was up to par, I drove her pretty hard to see how she responded and after about 3 full throttle accelerations bewteen say 20-60 mph, it felt like the car just came to life. This would be when the car was arguably hotter? Anyway, broke the rear wheels loose easily from a roll in 2nd gear, which I had not felt for a while. I can't think she would pull that hard in 85* weather with a bad IC pump after 15 minutes of spirited driving. I think what I need to do is have my S.A. check the cm30 to make sure it is working properly and then possibly bleed and re-fill the system. I have to say, if the replacement part on the dealership shelf is in fact a better unit than what came from the factory, part of me is tempted to just have that installed. My cm30 was under $200 and I'm not worried about that.
