I posted this in the E55 section as well but wanted to make sure I reached as many people as possible. Car is at the dealership now and I plan to call them back tomorrow morning. It doesn't make sense that the dealer wants to replace the AC compressor since the noise is still present with both belts off. The AC compressor is not doing anything without the belt attached, correct?

my 2003 makes a similiar whining noise. Thought it was normal sound of the 55 engine. Well if you find a solution lets us know.
