sl55 wheel fitment
i decided to go 19x9 front and 19x11 rear, looking into the forgestars cf5. i am also going to use lowering links, with that being said - is this wheel size perfect fitment for our sl class? im looking for performance wise, also what color you guys perfer? i have a black w red interior sl55, was thinking matte black or gun metal rims?

Given you SLs colors, I would go for matte black, but i have to say the photo kustom posted is sweet!!! I am normally not a fan of gold anything. It just looks gaudy, but those gold rims with black and red with those elegant R230 lines is just right.

Those sizes should be ok if you get the right offset, & are NOT lowered, as I had that setup initially with some Lorinser 20". BUT all bets are off when you drop it. Maybe you can get away by running narrower tires, but if you need to lower your car, you might want to get some wheels a little less aggressive to start with.

you can lower it and have 9, 11 with 255/35 and 295/30 , but I think 10.5 would be better than 11 for 295. Maybe use 305/30 on 11s

295 will be ideal on a 10.5" - a slight stretch on an 11". Fitting that 11" will be difficult once lowered.
9" at the front is perfect!

im sticking with 19x9 in front. as for rear should i got 10.5 or 11s? i AM lowering with links. as for tires, best bang for buck + performance? hankook v12? tire sizings? i def dont want no rub in the rear, is there room to flare them?

Hankook V12 are the best bang for your buck out there, but with the price reduction of the Michelin PSS over its PS2 predecessor, they're hard to dismiss.
You'll want to go 285 or 295 on that 11" rear wheel. It won't rub on a lowered car with the right rear offset.

I believe the AMG wheels I have in the rear are 10.5".
If you are planning to derestrict your car, and do some serious speed, tire selection is very important.
While there are more tires available that can handle the speed and weight of these cars. While its nice to get a deal on tires, remember they are what keeps you on the road and not in the shrubs!
Having said that, if you are just planning trips to coffee and the valet stand, disregard.

My number one tire attribute is straight line traction. I compromise tread life and just about everything else for it, because I only drive my SL in the summer months. I have run Toyo proxes for the last few summers and like their traction. This year, i am running Nitto Envos. They seem very sticky on warm pavement. A word of cation about either tire. They lose traction at almost an alarming rate as the temps drop. Not like the car will slide off the road, but at 50 degrees, only the lightest throttle can be used at launch. The Nittos have a warning not to drive when the temps are at or near freezing.

When thinking about an SL55 AMG configuration, this setup should be considered every time!
Perfect SL55 fitment, you can get them in challenge gold if you want that, no problems. Actually that setup would look epic! Without a doubt.
