Lowering my SL55
Good Morning..
I am new to the forum but I had a great experience and wanted to share it..
I bought a 2007 SL55 and read that you could lower the car by manipulating the factery air suspension.. A shop on Staten Island did an amazing job on my car.

The two guys there "Joe and Andrew" knew everything about my car. Also, they have the factory Benz computer and software to log in.
Yesterday they lowered my car 1.5" and really improved the look. Also, we changed the factory fog lights to HID, tinted the windows, installed an I pod hook up, and changed all the lights to LED's.. It was a great car day!!
Just wanted to share a good location where the people actually know how to work on an SL..
Thanks!

Great job on lowering the air suspension on a hydraulic suspension car. It takes skill and a sprinkle of magic
On lowering with star- some cars can be lowered a bit. Others fall out of bounds before any meaningful drop can be achieved. There are tricks to trick the height sensors, but they are not for the faint of heart.
Lowering links remain the cheapest tried and working method.

I maxed out how low the computer could lower the car. You have to stay between particular values to trick the computer; but it came down a little less than 1".. it made a big difference int he look, but it still a little too high!
Im gonna do some homework on the links and get the car down low!

Saw the ghost lowering links and was quoted $300 plus install
It seems all the links are pretty much the same from the $150
price and up brands.
I'll also add if anyone has a line on a nice lowering module for around $700 please let me know
thx

you can do them yourself too. it is fun weekend project. just be careful removing the stock ones as the height sensor arms are very flexible, but fragile. the fronts are easier to access, the rears are somewhat a pita.

this is what i did on mine too and the results are precisely what i wanted them to be... there is about a 3/4 inch wheel gap at the lowest position and i run 20x11 wheels in the back with 315 tires without any issues.

easiest and most reliable way to get a car lowered is to do the lowering control module. The best one I've had experience with is the REnntech module. You can actually download the program to your laptop and custom set all of the settings yourself if you arent happy with it. also you can install it yourself if you have any type of experience with electrical wiring at all. Overall a really good set up and one I recommend to anybody looking to lower a car for good or just temporarily for some reason
