AC compressor .... and then some .....

I'm in the middle of a major work-over of my car and the main reason is that the pulley on the AC compressor flew off. I have ordered a new pulley but become unsure if this is the right move.

I'm thinking with all the work wouldn't it be better of changing out the AC compressor completely?

Also; I can not find anything on the STAR Service manual of how to change the compressor ..... looks like I have to lift the engine for getting the damn thing off.....

- any body?

That sure doesn't look fun. Maybe just go through with just the pulley change? Haha. Good luck.

please tell me you didn't tear it down that far just for the a/c? haha. lifting the engine a little seems kinda small compared to where you're at, lol.

I know it looks kind of ..... hmmmm but it's only a good days work .... it's amazing how little bolts and nuts that have to come off to get where I am now.

Out of 10 pulleys only 3 is OK .... thats with 93.000 miles and I see from the receipts that at least the generator (is OK) has been change before (receipts are in Italian) But thinking how much it exactly have to stand for in a car like this - driven like a sports car ..... maybe it's OK then?

My advise to others is to take the time each year to check the pulleys for wear and tear - it will probably save a lot of sorrows .... and money.
It's a must to keep this engine in good shape.

As said before I will do upgrade .... just not sure going for smaller pulley on the clutch side or a bigger one on the crankshaft .........

Again - any one here change a AC on a R230? Advises are greatly appreciated.

i personally would do the lower pulley and tune. you could get a little more power out of doing the lower pulley than just the upper. cost difference would not be much at all either with eurocharged 180mm and tune deal, if it is still going.
