SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Customer vs. Manufacturer - the Vossen example.
One thing bothers me in the answer of the wheel manufacturer - the lack of will to resolve the issue, regardless of who and why is responsible for the damaged wheel.
Discontinuation of the product appears to be the main excuse not to get to the bottom of this case.
It takes a very little effort to solve this so both parties are satisfied. So really, I don't understand why rather have anger and bitter taste...
Vossen could give 1 and gain 100 here.
if you purchased wheels and then a week later you hit a big pot hole or a curb. would you call up wheel manu. and blame them for the damaged wheels? then comes the fact of wheel age and not original purchaser. not being original purchaser does not mean wheel should only last as long as one owner, but rather to the fact he has no idea how these wheels have been cared for or what conditions they have seen.
no wheel company will ever warranty against potholes of curb shots. that is just silly. whatever happened to that wheel is by no means a manufaturer defect. it was impacted and that is it.
here is the situation in a different light. you buy car that has damage on the fender. you then take car to dealer and demand a new fender due to the fact it is bent up. i have no idea what logic you could use to prove your point other than you felt the fender that you are not really even sure what happened to it in the first place, but it should have held up to whatever could be dished out to it. after they explain that it is not a manufacturer defect, you proceed to get on a public forum and slander said manufacturer for poor quality and warn people to not buy said car.
imo, vossen did nothing wrong and see no reason they should eat the cost of one single wheel because of it or lose any respect from future purchasers.
