SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: New Owner

I've been lusting after the SL55 ever since it was announced but basically gave up after finding out the $10-$20K markups (for pre-owned vehicles, no less!)
Then 3 weeks ago, I decided to try again. I must have called 50 dealers nationwide, not to mention brokers, independents and assorted opportunists. Bottom line was a pre-owned car with a few thousand miles at $5-$10K over or at least a year wait for a pre-order. So I was about to give up again, when ...
On Friday, I got a call from a local dealer--a customer had backed out of a car that was arriving the next day and if I wanted it I could have it for $5K over list.
Well, I got to the dealership on Sat and 1/2 hour later a car carrier pulled up with my car perched on the top (brilliant silver/charcol, park, xenox, keyless, pano roof).
I was hoping for list, but the car was pretty much configured the way I wanted and had only 11 miles on it. I may have been able to do better by waiting a few months...but, well you know ...
Anyway, all I can say is WOW! I traded my M5 for it, which I miss sorely, but the SL55 is in a class by itself. I have to pinch myself every time I see it sitting in the driveway.

Great choice! I did the same, traded in an M5 and couldn't be happier. You will enjoy the power and refinement, and you will have the top down more than you think. Have fun and post pics...
