Battery draw issue!
I like to give back to this community that I learn so much from, when I can.
My 2005 SL65 has always had a constant draw on the electrical system since I purchased it in April 2012. Replaced the battery in the trunk with a new Mercedes Benz battery with no change. Resorted to constantly keeping a battery tender hooked up to the car, and even then the clock would not keep time, as it would loose a couple of minutes per week sitting. Thanks to Tri-Star Mercedes Benz in St. Louis the problem has been fixed. They had to replace the entire instrument cluster because it was the source of the electrical draw. I have never heard of this being the source of such a draw, but I thought those on this forum would appreciate this information as electrical draws on these SL's seems to be a common problem! I hope this is of help to those going thru the same problem I struggled with for over a year! Now the SL65 has been able to sit for several weeks with no problem and the clock keeps perfect time!!! Dealer charged 4.2 labor hours which cost $546 and the part cost $500, total of $1046. Not having to keep my SL65 plugged in to a battery tender all the time, PRICELESS!!! Chris
