SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Need SL65 Tuning Advice pt 2

I would absolutely consider that, but not sure it's worth the work to keep putting DPs back on every other year to go through emissions. Anyone know how long it takes to do downpipes in the SL65? Can it be done with engine/trans in the car? Meth is cheap and easy...if I can get a tune for it...

meth kit will make the car run a bit cooler and will keep the power consistent. now if you have a ecu remap to add a bit timing due to the meth then you will gain some power.

Aquamist has safety's. Float level switch in tank, flow sensor in engine bay...either of those make, and it's back to wastegate power. Ran it for years....consistancy doesn't even begin to describe...

If that's the case with the meth kits, I prob need to look into it, after I finish researching the toe links and cambers for the R230 (I refuse to pay 2400 just for toe links and cambers from Renntech lol)

Also anyone did a tune with race gas? and what are the difference compared to 93 octane? I figured I should put race gas and have another file made for the tune once I get the exhaust made

Even without tuning for it! I'm tuned for 93, like many of us, but the car really likes the oxygenated stuff.
As for meth, I've always considered adding it, but will never tune for it. I can think of only 1 person who has openly used meth on the M275, Marko. And I'm not even 100% sure about that, to be honest. I just never wanted to guinea pig this thing. Call me scurred....

Shoot man, who knows. There's really only one on the market, that you can call somebody and order, and that's Speedriven scorpion. TTM was working on something, but I didn't have the time/cycles to help R&D it with him. I spent 15 minutes one day trying to install some peices he sent me but I never got the full kit installed. I know Sean has spent the most time/energy on a few different setups and he's happy with his latest iteration. Includes large plumbing, and cutting the front support to get the filters out front, like your boy Kuave's E55. 
The argument against the scorpions mostly made is initial temp of charge air, since it's being ingested from underhood, right on top of the valve covers. But the counterpoint is CFM.
I've stayed with the stock box and have determined that if I go further, I'll use Meth/Water to cool the charge.

Ok Scurred...you have to tune for it, UNLESS you are only running a smidge, like 25% meth and 75% water. Other wise, you will run rich. Methanol is a fuel...adding it will change your A/F...especially if you run 100%, which I did and will. Running 100% gives you cooling and fueling, which means you can add timing and boost, thus the need for a tune. As I said above, there are safety's in the event of a failure of the methanol delivery, so no piston melting if you run out or spring a leak....

Understood. For the record, I was never tuned to the "max", but probably more than the next guy. We spent a lot of time on the dyno finding the sweet spot. I had no interest in building a 996 motor. You must ALWAYS leave room for error..especially running on pump gas. Now I have to rely on Eurocharged to tune me, and remotely at that..not happy about that, but it is what it is. My decsion to join the Benz world, gotta live with it. What I mean by that, before someone gets offended, is that I used to live in the Porsche/ Audi world and my local tuner is a Porsche/Audi tuner.

It's true that you can't find a good Benz tuner in every city, but the good news is, you did pick a very good one. Remote tuning isn't ideal, but at least we don't have to mail off ECUs back and forth like we used to, just a few years ago.

I mean the good thing about Eurocharged is that Jerry gets back to his people ASAP, and he will go back and forth sending retunes. I was at the shop a few days ago, and a BMW came in, Paul and Jerry spent 2 hours sending the files back and forth re tuning. For MB that pretty good. You also got to remember that the 600s and 65s haven't received much love, but they will work with you on making one off stuff.
I already have them fabricate an one off exhaust system, along with using other parts from tuning companies for the toe links, cambers, lsd, etc. I'll be having them look into a one off intake system once I get the black series kit in, and see how we can get some fresh air via the air scoops on the hood to avoid heat soak, may have to modify the hood for best results. After that we gonna look into a complete engine/transmission rebuild before doing a custom turbo set up.
But as BOR said, Eurocharged is a great shop to work with. I'm just glad they finally opened a shop in DC

Yeah Boston is a hike from DC, I'll have EC/DC guinea pig my car as I'm modding it and I'll provide feedback so you can save some R&D headache lol

Was planning to on the AMG meet for MIR back in Nov. but it rained out, Best bet will prob be in Feb, maybe sooner if it turns out to be a snowless winter, but that's not looking like the case for this year

For you as well, your car rolls 10.90s with just a tune? what tire set up? any other mods?
So no times yet? I will hit the track early this year to get my times, last year didn't get out since I had a lot going on but this coming year def will be at the track.

My mod list is: Eurocharged ECU/TCU, no mufflers and front mount heat exchanger. I ran some 18" BFG drag radials on some older 18 Benz wheels...
