Floating part in gas tank
Hi,
A couple of days ago, a sound comes from the trunk as if something is floating inside the gas tank. It's a really annoying sound. My technician says that there is now way to get the part out without cutting the tank and welding it back.
Does anyone knows what this is and if that is the only solution?

The top of the baffle in the tank has come loose. there's a fix with a spring, some have used magnets, some have simply bashed it until the baffle was wedged and stopped the bonking.

Super Monkey has a pretty good solution that seems to have worked.
Good Luck!

I had the same fuel tank baffle issue when I had my old 2003 AMG. Cost about $900 for the tank and about $1000 labor. Yes, this is a known issue within MB AMG owners.
