Production numbers, specific to colors?
I've been able to find production numbers for SL55's by year but nothing for colors. Been shopping for an '03-'06 SL55 for a while and it seems like everything available is either Black or Silver. See an occasional White but rarely Red, Pewter, Mocha Black Metallic or Desert Silver Metallic.
Is there a source out there some where that shows how many of each color was produced?

SL65, 427 COBRA (CSX-3127)73 911S, 246GTS (DINO SPYDER), CORNICHE,1962 PORSCHE TWIN GRILLE ROADSTER+
I did research on this 4-5 years ago...
If you search my posts going back 4+ years you will find a post on this subject for the R230 AMGs SL55/SL65...
There were at the time (during a 2-3 month period) around 98 cars for sale and the color brake down for those R230 AMGs offered (from memory) was around 44% Silver and 47% black with only around 9% left for the other 10 colors (blues (3),reds (2),grays (2),white, green etc)
With only 9% for other colors, using the production number of 390 it calculated out that my 2006 SL65 in #189 Black Opal (Metallic Blue) was probably one of only 3-5 cars built. Then ad to the calculation the interior color options and the possibility was reduced to probably only one or two SL65s built with my color combo?

I recently bought a '03 model painted in firemist red (metallic, medium maroon). Only one I've ever seen in this color. Draws lots of comments wherever I drive it. I just came back from two days at Watkins Glen track at a Porsche Drivers Ed event, where 80% of the cars were Porsche. Most had never seen a SL55 on the track (I've driven a Porsche 928 for 13 years on most eastern US tracks), and were amazed at the engineering and thought the car was absolutely 'beautiful' in this color. Interior is black/charcoal. Odo turned 48,000 in the 'toe of the boot' at the Glen.
I'd love to see production figures and paint color figures both for the 1st generation of the SL55 AMG's.

I have a CLK63 Black Series and nobody can get AMG to give us a total number built or shipped to the U.S.

08 M6, 03 M3, and working on an SL55 now
Here's the figures by production year (not model year) worldwide.

To verify that M-B won't release this information, earlier this year I wrote M-B North America and just like I had heard, they won't reveal any color production information. In my case I have an 06' SL65 in Designo Graphite and I would guess there are maybe a dozen, plus or minus half a dozen in this color.
It strikes me as dumb that Mercedes doesn't assist enthusiasts in this regard. I don't need a breakdown of every damn color they made, just tell me how many they produced in my color when I nicely request it. I briefly had an Audi (regrettable) and they were more than happy to give me information relevant to my cars color. With a car well past ten years old, I can't see what competitive advantage Mercedes gains by withholding this limited information.
Frustrating for all of us and just dumb....c'mon man!

Old thread, but curious. I had an '05 SL55 and now have an '11 SL63. During all my years of tracking AMG SLs, I have NEVER seen a 2010 SL63 in the US. Think I read a long time ago that none were shipped because of EPA problems. Likewise, I know of no 2007 or 2008 SL63s. Are there any breakdowns by US? Does anyone here own an '10 SL63, or know of one?

Since that post, "Zachmac" on this forum also has culled this information in detail. I would welcome hearing what your research reflects specifically for my particular options/color.

@jmattioni I am very interested in your source. I am in the process of building a database for the whole R230 population (169,434 cars) using FIN/VIN lookups, but it is time-consuming and I am always looking for new sources to complement/expand my search. Thanks
